Theme: Getting the Gospel Out

Outline of the chapter:
I. The Possession of the Gospel. Vs.1-7
II. The Power of the Gospel. Vs.7-11
III. The Place of the Gospel. Vs.12-18
Some have no power. There is no current coming in from the power plant, but they have the official power lines ran.
Some have a spark and cause an explosion and think they have power.

Some have local battery provided power. Only problem is the battery dies and needs to be replaced.
What we need is the constant power from another source.
Let us examine these OUTLETS of the Power of the Gospel.

7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.
Are you looking for an outward change to justify you or someone else?

8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
Authority is to be for edification.
Authority is never for destruction.

This preacher is on the level in his writing. vs.9-10
The Epistles of Paul are not scary for believers walking with God in Christ. v.9
9 That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
The appearance and preaching of Paul is not to be hated. v.10
10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
This preacher is on the level in his living. v.11
11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
