Hey everyone, how are we doing so far? We will a wake?

Toning i want to talk about the most impotent thing i can talk about.

and that is purpose, thats meaning

Over hundreds and thousands of years Humanity has been on a Qwest for meaning and purpose

This is a quest on that all of you, over the next few years will take seriously.

people will begin to ask you

“what do you want to do with your life”

“what are your plans after HS?”

or the Infamous “now what?”

so my question for you tonight is what is your answer?

What is your aim?

What is your purpose?

What is your meaning?

Tonight or this morning depending how we look at it,LOL

I want to tell you about a man

a man who wanted to answer these questions

he wanted to know what the point of life was.

This man was a king,

And His name was Solomon

King Solomon according to the Bible was the Wisest, richest and most prosperous king in the world

And in the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon decided that he would find out what the meaning of life was

he wanted to know What the point of all of this was, so he began the search for meaning

He looked at 6 aspects of life

Wisdom and Knowledge “For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.” – Ecclesiastes 1:18 (ESV)

Pleasure and Hedonism “I said in my heart, ‘Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy yourself.’ But behold, this also was vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 2:1 (ESV)

Great Works and Accomplishments “I made great works. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself.” – Ecclesiastes 2:4 (ESV)

Wealth and Material Possessions “He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 5:10 (ESV)

In modern history, there is a man named John D Rockefeller

He was the richest man in America and his day

And when people would ask this man, how much money was enough he would answer “just a little bit more”

And later in life, John D Rockefeller was quoted as saying

"I have made millions, but they have brought me no happiness."

So for Solomon and for Rockefeller money, wealth, income possessions, do not bring meaning fulfillment or happiness

So Solomon moved on from riches to labor

Labor and Hard Work “I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me.” – Ecclesiastes 2:18 (ESV)

Pursuit of Justice and Righteousness “Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, even there was wickedness, and in the place of righteousness, even there was wickedness.” – Ecclesiastes 3:16 (ESV)

Solomon saw that even in the most righteous of places there was deceit there was evil that even the best of the best fall short of the glory of God

Solomon saw the even the judges in the juries make mistakes or purposely lie, and even the most operative men fail

And then ultimately Solomon looks at the course of human history

The Natural Cycles of Life “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” – Ecclesiastes 1:9 (ESV)

Solomon sees the history repeats itself, That there's nothing new

The saying has been told that hard times make great men and great men make great times and great times make weak men and weak men make hard times and then repeats

Solomon sees this pattern with the world that is repeating over and over and over again and says it is meaningless

so what does Solomon come away with?

What is our purpose? What is our meaning? What is the point?

After a long drawn out study of

1. Wisdom and Knowledge

2. Pleasure and Hedonism

3. Great Works and Accomplishments

4. Wealth and Material Possessions

5. Labor and Hard Work

6. Pursuit of Justice and Righteousness

7. The Natural Cycles of Life

Solomon disclosures “The True Meaning of Life”

The True Meaning of Life “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” – Ecclesiastes 12:13 (ESV)

Another way, it has been put in church history

“Is to love God and enjoy him forever”

You see the whole point Solomon is trying to make is apart from God nothing has meaning

We live today we die tomorrow there's no point

If you and i seek our meaning our purpose in the same things everyone else is we will find nothing in the end

solomon HAD IT ALL and still found no meaning.

But the only thing that he could find that gave purpose meaning and reason for life was God

and tonight i want to give you the opportunity to find that meaning

i want you to have the chance to know God and have meaning in life

and first step is to understand that we have all fallen short

there is no one in this room who deserves to go to heaven. No one in this room deserves to be wits God.

Romans 3:23 ESV

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 ESV

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The punishment for our sin is death, it is eternity in Hell. Eternity separated from God

But God made a way,

Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—

And what that means is that Jesus saw you and me in our sin and he willing lived the perfect life we couldn’t live and He died the death we deserved

and 3 days latter he rose again

and all that you and I have to do to be saved for our sin is to repent and believe in Jesus.

(If I’m walking this way they means I change my mind and walk the other way )

Romans 10:9 ESV

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

If you don’t know the lord tonight I hope you will surrender to Him and trust in him tonight

because It is in Him that we find meaning it ins in Him that all things become meaningful

Matthew 5:8 ESV

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

What this means is when you give your life to Christ now everything else has meaning and you can see God working in every aspect of your life
