Let’s pray
Father in heaven
Thank you for your great love and grace.
Thank you Lord for loving us and giving us everything since we were sinners.
we rely on your precious blood.
now we will praise your name
we wanna enjoy your love
so come to us
May the Holy Spirit lead our worship.
and glorify your name through us.
we love you.
in Jesus name I pray. amen.
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
I want to talk about worship.
And I want you to learn how to worship.
Because worship is very important to Christians.
In fact, the issue of worship is very important to everyone.
God created man to be a being who worships God.
So today I want to talk about the true worship that Jesus spoke about.
We already learned two things.
First, Meaning of True worship.
what does true worship mean?
It is worshiping God in spirit and in truth.
Second, Motive of True worship.
Why should we worship God in spirit and truth?
Because, “The Father is seeking such people to worship him.”
Today we talk about last point.
The Method of True Worship.
3. The Method of True Worship
Let me tell you about the method of true worship.
Let’s look again at verses 23.
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
Jesus says to this woman,
She talks about worship, but she does not worship truly. That is ignorant worship.
What is the true way of worship?
Jesus said that we must worship in spirit.
He is not talking about the Holy Spirit.
He is talking about the human spirit.
That is, worship comes from within.
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you
He is talking about the human spirit.
Now the human spirit cannot worship without the command of the Holy Spirit,
But the Holy Spirit God comes into the human spirit and helps us to worship.
That’s the reason you have to be saved and filled with Holy Spirit to truly worship.
If you have a problem with worship,
Let me tell you what your problem is.
It is in your spirit.
If you feel bored in church, the problem is in your inner spirit.
So, is simply worshipping passionately true worship?
Some people think that worship is passionate singing, praying, and praising.
preaching the word of God is also worship.
We worship God in truth.
And if we don’t, the church becomes syrupy.
It becomes subjective rather than objective.
We need to worship Him with song and worship Him with understanding.
Here’s a great verse for you and everyone on our worship team.
Psalm 47:7.
“For he is the King of all the earth, Praise God with understanding.”
That’s spirit and that’s truth.
If you have only emotion, you’ll blow up.
If you have only truth, you’ll dry up.
But if you have spirit and truth, you’ll grow up.
Jesus said we must worship in spirit and truth.
Jesus gave us the great commandment, and it has to do with worship.
Mark 12:30
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
This is the first commandment.
Remember what I said, what is the highest good?
What is important? What is the ultimate privilege?
Here Jesus makes it very clear.
We are to love God.
How do we love Him?
The first word is passionate.
We must love our God passionately.
That is, with all our heart, as much as we have in us.
Worship with a half-heart is an insult to the Almighty.
Does God have all your passionate heart?
Second, you must love Him selflessly with your whole soul.
The soul is the self.
You must not be self-centered.
You are naturally self-centered.
Have you ever heard someone say,
"Well, I came to church and I didn’t get anything”?
Who told you that you had to get something out of it?
Ask yourself this question:
Has God received anything from my worship?
Has God gained anything out of it?
We are here to glorify God.
We must serve Him selflessly.
When you stop thinking about yourself and put your heart on God
and stop saying, "What will I get?"
and start saying, "What will I give?"
the church is transformed into a worshiping church.
Third, we must love Him thoughtfully with our whole heart.
A full heart is no excuse for an empty head.
Serve the Lord with knowledge and wisdom.
Love Him in spirit and in truth.
Last one, we must love Him practically with all our might.
In everything we do.
"Whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
Do it all to the glory of God."
What is worship? It is giving glory to God.
Do your studies and school life not for yourself, but for God.
The reason you study at VGA is not to make you rich.
The reason you study at VGA is not simply to become a great person.
You are here to train and prepare to live the calling that God has given you.
And you are here to live a life that brings glory to God every day.
We must glorify God through our daily lives.
That is worship.
This is what Jesus said to this woman.
She asked, “Should we worship here or over there?”
Jesus said, “Woman, you worship in spirit and truth.”
There is no place that is not holy place.
There is no ground that is not sacred ground.
There is no time that should not be a time of worship.
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
As you worship God this week,
I pray that you will think about what you learned today
and respond to our Father.
Let’s pray
Our father and Our God
We pray that you will teach us how to worship you in spirit and truth.
And we want to be true worshipers.
So help us to know you better.
We want to become intimate with you and worship you more fully.
Thank you for this word today.
Help us to live as you say.
