People connect with clarity.
How do we remain connected with clarity in the midst of chaos?
Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.
Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
“Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.
How do you want to spend the best years of your life?
Focus on spiritually..
The best if yet to come.
Many spend them here…
Disbelief.
Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning* Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”
The limitations we place on God have a direct affect on the limitations of our faith.
We serve a God that does the miraculous.
We serve a God that brings prodigals home.
We serve a God that saves and heals.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Jesus demonstrates His power over chaos by walking on the water.
Clarity doesn’t come from the absence of storms.
Clarity comes from His presence.
Doubt.
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
Debilitating Anxiety.
But when he saw the strong* wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
We can spend years trying to walk on the water with the focus of just not sinking.
Men: When it comes to anxiety, you are often the thermostat.
Define the triggers.
Am I allowing technology to bring anxiety into my home?
News on all the time.
Phone on all the time.
Scrolling all the time.
Am I bringing the spirit of fear and anxiety home from work with me?
How quickly can I return to joy and help those I lead the same?
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Rejoice means return to joy.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Posture of Peace.
Divine Revelation.
When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.
Divine revelation leads to divine destiny.
The revelation of the disciples and Peter was not the same revelation.
The revelation of who Jesus is where we should spend the best years of our life.
With our eyes on Jesus, we can walk on the water. Full of faith, full of hope, and full of expectation.
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith.
Jesus reaches out to us while we are sinking.
Jesus calms the chaos.
Jesus conquers the chaos.
Jesus conquered death.
Jesus reigns.
Jesus is with you.
