Intro

Key Point 1

A church without the Spirit is as helpless as Israel might have been in the wilderness if the fiery cloud had deserted them. The Holy Spirit is our cloud by day and our fire by night. Without Him we only wander aimlessly about the desert.
Exodus 13:21; Nehemiah 9:19; Psalm 127:1–5
Keys to the Deeper Life, 50.
A. W. Tozer

Key Point 2

The gifts of the Spirit have nothing to do with personal ambition or career orientation. They are not given to build individual reputations, to warrant superior positions in the local church, or to demonstrate spiritual advancement. They are not trophies, but tools—tools for touching and blessing others.
John Wimber (Pastor of Vineyard Christian)

Key Point 3

It is easy to want things from the Lord and yet not want the Lord Himself; as though the gift could ever be preferable to the Giver.
Saint Augustine of Hippo
Spiritual gifts are no proof of spirituality.
Samuel Chadwick
