Why Lying Is SO Wrong
Why Lying Is SO Wrong
- Loss-of integrity, trust, relationships Job 27:5 “5 Far be it from me to say that you are right; till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.”
- Yield to Sin John 8:43–44 “43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
- Isolation from others 1 Peter 3:10 “10 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;”
- Neglect of truth Proverbs 12:22 “22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”
- Guilt Proverbs 10:9 “9 Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”
Why Tell the Truth
Why Tell the Truth
- Trust Proverbs 12:17 “17 Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.”
- Righteousness Proverbs 13:6 “6 Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but sin overthrows the wicked.”
- Unity Ephesians 4:15–16 “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
- Transformation John 8:32 “32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.””
- Honor Proverbs 12:22 “22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”
