Be Holy for He is Holy

Sermon on 10 November 2024

Introduction:

Christians should not forget that we are in the world which rejects Jesus Christ. The knowledge of Him is fought against so that people ma not believe in Him. Therefore God make those who have received Jesus and believe they have eternal life through him, to be a Holy People. That means set apart of his purposes. For this reason He said “Be Holy For I am Holy”.

1 Peter 1:15–16 (AMP) 15 But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. 16 For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.

Leviticus 20:26 (AMP) 26 And you shall be holy to Me; for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.

Leviticus 19:2 (AMP) 2 Say to all the assembly of the Israelites, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

Everyone who belongs to him therefore have passed through atonement by the blood of Jesus. This means their sins are covered, purged, blotted out and people are reconciled with God. For what separates people from God is Sin.

Read Exodus 12:7-23 to establish the Passover (Protection against judgement set) as different from Atonement (dealing with Sin to remove separation and institute righteousness, holiness and reconciliation). Emphasize verses 12-13.

What becomes of Christians

How do we maintain the Holy State:

By doing the Commandments of God.

Numbers 15:40 (AMP) 40 That you may remember and do all My commandments and be holy to your God.

The Word Of God and Prayer.

1 Timothy 4:4–5 (AMP) 4 For everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving. 5 For it is hallowed and consecrated by the Word of God and by prayer.

Most of ALL, Remember that Only God declares anything as Holy.

The Sabbath Day - Exodus 20:11 (AMP) 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it [set it apart for His purposes]. AND Genesis 2:3 (AMP) 3 And God blessed (spoke good of) the seventh day, set it apart as His own, and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all His work which He had created and done.

The Anointing Oil - Exodus 37:29 (AMP) 29 He also made the holy anointing oil [symbol of the Holy Spirit] and the pure, fragrant incense, after the perfumer’s art.

The Priestly garments - Exodus 39:1 (AMP) 1 AND OF the blue and purple and scarlet [stuff] they made finely wrought garments for serving in the Holy Place; they made the holy garments for Aaron, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

What is offered (offering) - Numbers 16:38 (AMP) 38 The censers of these men who have sinned against themselves and at the cost of their own lives. Let the censers be made into hammered plates for a covering of the altar [of burnt offering], for they were used in offering before the Lord and therefore they are sacred. They shall be a sign [of warning] to the Israelites.

A whole nation - Deuteronomy 26:19 (AMP) 19 And He will make you high above all nations which He has made, in praise and in fame and in honor, and that you shall be a holy people to the Lord your God, as He has spoken.

The temple and its altar - You cannot pollute what was not clean. Therefore we need to keep the house of God clean and unpolluted with worldly things. - 2 Chronicles 36:14 (AMP) 14 Also all the chiefs of the priests and the people trespassed greatly in accord with all the abominations of the heathen, and they polluted the house of the Lord which He had hallowed in Jerusalem.

Things appointed by God - Ezekiel 22:26 (AMP) 26 Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things. They have made no distinction between the sacred and the secular, neither have they taught people the difference between the unclean and the clean and have hid their eyes from My Sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

We Cannot do things out way.

Just because we know the word and that there is the blood of Jesus or the anointing oil, we cannot use them or apply them as we wish.

Aaron’s sons dies.

Leviticus 10:1–3 (AMP) 1 AND NADAB and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange and unholy fire before the Lord, as He had not commanded them. 2 And there came forth fire from before the Lord and killed them, and they died before the Lord. 3 Then Moses said to Aaron, This is what the Lord meant when He said, I [and My will, not their own] will be acknowledged as hallowed by those who come near Me, and before all the people I will be honored. And Aaron said nothing.

Satan tempts Jesus.

Matthew 4:1–4 (AMP) 1 THEN JESUS was led (guided) by the [Holy] Spirit into the wilderness (desert) to be tempted (tested and tried) by the devil. 2 And He went without food for forty days and forty nights, and later He was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to Him, If You are God’s Son, command these stones to be made [loaves of] bread. 4 But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

You can only do what God gave for you to do.

Matthew 20:22 (AMP) 22 But Jesus replied, You do not realize what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink and to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized? They answered, We are able.

John 18:8 (AMP) 8 Jesus answered, I told you that I am He. So, if you want Me [if it is only I for Whom you are looking], let these men go their way.

Isaiah 53:4-10 (AMP) - Read it

How or what process was involved in making something Holy:

The sprinkling of the blood on the thing or person or place.

Hebrews 9:18 (AMP) 18 So even the [old] first covenant (God’s will) was not inaugurated and ratified and put in force without the shedding of blood.

Hebrews 10:20 (AMP) 20 By this fresh (new) and living way which He initiated and dedicated and opened for us through the separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies), that is, through His flesh,

Conclusion:

Seek the Kingdom and God’s Holiness (Righteousness)

Matthew 6:33 (AMP) 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Those reconciled to God will be used to make others Holy too.

We therefore need the knowledge and to be taught what makes us or things unclean, defiled, blemished, rendering it unacceptable to God.

1 Corinthians 7:14 (AMP) 14 For the unbelieving husband is set apart (separated, withdrawn from heathen contamination, and affiliated with the Christian people) by union with his consecrated (set-apart) wife, and the unbelieving wife is set apart and separated through union with her consecrated husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean (unblessed heathen, outside the Christian covenant), but as it is they are prepared for God [pure and clean].

Prayer:

Ask the church to kneel and pray confessing ur wrongs and the wrongs of the world.

Ask the Lord to have mercy, we repent of our wrongs.

Ask the Lord to help us, What are we to dot Lord? You have established us a s a church, then what are we supposed to do?

Lord Show us what this church is all about.
