Psalm 98

1. Isaac Watts
He wrote timeless classics such as “Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed,” “O God Our Help in Ages Past,” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” Yet Watts’s best-known hymn might be Joy to the World,” sung by millions of Christians during the Christmas season.
Watts used Scripture as inspiration for his hymns, many times paraphrasing passages of Scripture to create the lyrics of a hymn. “Joy to the World” was inspired by Psalm 98.
