Introduction
Hello, this is Kenneth, and welcome to Dwell.
Today is Wednesday, January 29th. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily.
Thanks for joining us for The Melodic Line for Kids.
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.
Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
Opening Prayer‌ Gracious God, your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Today, help us walk with you.
Passage
Today our passage is from Genesis chapter 9 verses 16-17 (ESV)
“When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
Exhortation
When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, the world broke. They were exiled out of the garden, and the ground was cursed. Things do not work like they are supposed to – especially the human heart. We are prone to wander, as the great hymn says, we sin and damage our relationship with God and with others.
In Genesis, the world becomes so corrupt that God washes it in a massive global flood. This is an act of judgment by a good God on evil people. But, it also affected all living creatures.
In our passage, we see that God makes a promise to humans and animals. He will never again destroy the world with a flood. He uses the rainbow as a sign of this everlasting promise. No, he doesn't say it will never rain again, and he doesn't say there will be no more floods at all, he says that there will be no more global floods that will destroy all creatures. The rainbow typically appears when God is bringing the sun to dry up the storm. It is a reminder to all creatures that God is merciful. Whenever you see it, give thanks to God.
Call to Action Let’s take a moment to consider the beauty of God’s mercy.
Closing Prayer‌ Let’s pray together.
Father, you are good and your loyal love is everlasting. Thank you for your faithfulness and mercy. Thank you for bringing the sun after the storms. We bring this gratitude in the name of King Jesus. Amen. Outro
It's been great to be with you today.
Tomorrow, we'll be in the Psalm 8. Until then, go in peace, and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
Now, go in peace and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
