Why does all this matter?
John 20:31 ESV
31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
So that you will believe and have life.
I am reminded of Peter in Acts 2.
Acts 2:22–24 ESV
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
This Jesus that we have learned about, was killed, crucified, by lawless men, but all of us and our sin—we would have joined in the crowd. For for our sin he was killed, and yet God raised him from the dead.
This Jesus—crucified, resurrected so that we may have life.
Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 10:9 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
You have heard the word of God, you know the truth, you have learned all about this great work that has been done, the miracles of Jesus, the events that can be overlapped with real people in real places throughout history.
Repent and believe. Confess your sins for he is faithful and just to forgive.
Let’s pray.
