Salvation Only Comes in the Name of Jesus
**Introduction:**
- Today, we are going to focus on one of the most profound and essential truths of the Christian faith: **Salvation comes only in the name of Jesus**.
- In a world filled with many beliefs, paths, and ideologies, the message of salvation through Christ alone stands out as a bold and exclusive claim. But it is not just a claim; it is the truth that transforms lives and offers eternal hope.
**Main Scripture:** Acts 4:12 (NIV)
> "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
The Passion Translation Chapter 4
12 There is no one else who has the power to save us, for there is only one name to whom God has given authority by which we must experience salvation: the name of Jesus
### 1. **The Exclusivity of Christ's Name**
- **Jesus is the Only Way:**
- In John 14:6, Jesus says, *"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."*
- This is a clear statement from Jesus Himself. He did not say He is *a* way, but *the* way. There are not multiple paths to God; there is only one, and it is through Jesus Christ.
- **Why Only Jesus?**
- Jesus is the only one who dealt with the problem of sin once and for all. Romans 3:23 says, *"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."* We cannot earn salvation through good works, rituals, or other religious practices.
- Jesus, being both fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life and took upon Himself the punishment that we deserved. As 2 Corinthians 5:21 states, *"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."*
### 2. **The Power of the Name of Jesus**
- **Authority in His Name:**
- Philippians 2:9-11 says, *"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."*
- There is power in the name of Jesus because His name represents His character, His authority, and His finished work on the cross. When we call on His name, we are invoking His authority over sin, death, and every spiritual force.
- **The Name that Saves:**
- Romans 10:13 declares, *"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."* Calling on the name of Jesus is not about a formula; it's about placing our faith in the One who has the power to save.
- This salvation is not limited to a specific group, nationality, or background. It is available to everyone who believes.
### 3. **The Response to the Name of Jesus**
- **Repentance and Faith:**
- Acts 3:19 says, *"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."*
- True salvation begins with acknowledging our sin and turning away from it. It involves a heart decision to trust Jesus as the only Savior and Lord of our lives.
- **Bold Proclamation of His Name:**
- In Acts 4, Peter and John were arrested for preaching in the name of Jesus. Yet they boldly declared before the Sanhedrin that salvation is found in no other name.
- Today, we are called to be bold witnesses of the gospel, sharing the truth that Jesus alone saves. We cannot be ashamed of the name of Jesus, even when the world may reject or mock it.
### 4. **The Assurance of Salvation in Jesus**
- **Eternal Security in Christ:**
- John 10:28-29, Jesus says, *"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."*
- When we put our faith in Jesus, we are given a secure and eternal relationship with God. It is not based on our performance but on His grace and the finished work of Jesus.
- **A New Identity in Christ:**
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, *"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"*
- In Christ, we receive a new identity. We are no longer defined by our past sins, failures, or the labels the world gives us. We are now children of God, heirs of His kingdom, and citizens of heaven.
### **Conclusion:**
- The message of salvation through Jesus alone is the heart of the gospel. It is the good news that has the power to save and transform anyone who believes.
- If you have not yet called on the name of Jesus for your salvation, today is the day of salvation. Jesus is ready to forgive, cleanse, and give you new life.
- For those who have already placed their trust in Jesus, remember the power and authority you have in His name. Let us boldly proclaim this message, knowing that there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
**Prayer:**
- Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that there is no other name that can save us. Help us to live in the truth of this gospel and to boldly share it with those around us. We pray that many would come to know the saving power of Jesus. In His mighty name, we pray, Amen.
**Call to Action:**
- If you feel the call of God on your heart today, don't wait. Call upon the name of Jesus, repent of your sins, and place your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior. Your life will be forever changed, and you will receive the gift of eternal life.
