Jesus has been given all authority and now we wait to see what he is going to do with it.

The answer is sobering

he sends his followers

Is that we make disciples of Jesus

baptizing them

teaching them to obey

This is the will of God

Jesus goes with us.

Aprrentices do not teach masters

Apprenticeship requires field experience

Apprentices sometimes must seek out teachers

Example of Jesus disciples

application: Find teachers, ask them to teach you, do the work of learning, be accountable to them,

Search for those who have proven themselves.

Know that being an apprentice or a disciple is for a limited time.

Eventually your role will change

you may lose your mentor

you may not be able to invest as much time as your life changes.

This is ok

Follow the example of Christ

teach through words and actions

It is not enough to learn. If it ends there then we are not being obedient to our calling.

Being a mississionary

It is not humanitarian aid.

it is not short term evangelism trips

It is a lifetime of discipleship

The end goal

Is it worth it to give your life to serving the Lord?

What is there to gain?

According to paul… hardship and suffering.

It is worth it because of the prize.
