Act 27 13-25
INTRODUCTION
Hope
- Hope is vital for our Life. to live without hope, even deferred hope, is cancerous and often can become fatal. Hope in this world will not do. For believers our Hope is to be set in Jesus Christ. We need this hope to help us endure difficulties and hardships throughout life's journey. Gives us strength and courage and also is a guarantee of Gods care for us. We need to be anchor in Gods promises throughtout life. Why there is many reasons but if you are like me i need his protection, His guidance, and directions for what this worlds throws at me.
CONTEXT
Paul arrives in Caesarea several days later is accused By his fellow Jews of speaking against Jews laws. Preaching salvation only comes through Faith Jesus Christ His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Its is not by just obeying the law. The law was made to expose our need of a Savior. when we take our lives and put them beside the commandments of God we see just how short we come from 100 percent obeying the laws.
He gets arrested The Jews want him dead so he has to stand trail in front of Felix holds Paul for around 2 years Felix couldn't find anything to charge him for but Felix was hoping that we could maybe earn favor with Jews or even get paid off for Paul's freedom. We see Festus takes Felix place Paul had enough he Appeals to see Caesar which was Nero at the time. He had this option since he was a Rome citizen. then King Agrippa shows up and wants to hear what Paul has to say and was also saved.
the trip to Rome begins Paul is handed over to Julius a centurion of the Augustan Regiment. They set sail and get to a place called Fair Havens. they struggle due to the wind not permitting them to sail. they have shelter here. Where Paul tells them Hey if we return back to sailing this is not going to end well
the captain and owner of the boat persuades the Julius
(VS-13)- We see that it looks like everything is in there favor and thinking they made then right decision.
- how often do we have tendency to misinterpret life's circumstances.
(v-14)- They find out very quickly that it wasn’t going to be a smooth and easy voyage. we see they encounter a storm could Euroclydon/ northwestern This was a very powerful and dangerous storm. The winds could possibly get up to 100 knots (115 mph) for hours are days. It would be Hard to Judge how to face this type of storm because the wind would come from all directions.
- Its not easy walking with Jesus a lot of times. Its a fight that takes place It seams that often we face storms throughout this life. You maybe here today thinking well im not to sure what you talking about life is good. keep breathing that day will knock at your door. paul says in Ephesians 6 13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
But we have to stand on hope and Faith that God will see us through the storms of life if we will just stay connected to Him and listen.
(vs-15)
- At this moment i believe they words of Paul echos in there mind realizing they have no more control in the circumstances they find there self in.
(VS-16)
the boat they are on would have been in the size range of 140ft and 36ft long. Its a little hard for me to understand saving the skiff.
sometimes we have to cut the ropes of our own lifeboats to gain the full protection of the Lords direction and will.
(VS-17-19)
now we see the crew undertake actions to secure against the raging water.
Sometimes we must take practical steps in life when faced with different circumstances.
(vs-20)
this would be how they would navigate knowing nothing else to do they give up
have you been there?
(vs-21)
i believe Paul has his i told you so moment
I believe Paul is say now what i told you before we left fair havens has come to pass other then our lives believe what im about to tell you now.
(VS-22-25)
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Paul stood up and tells them to take heart be of good cheer
if we will just hold on to God Promises and have faith we will know that God is always with us even in the mist of life's difficulties. We can not let fear dictate our life we have to believe and trust God. God will us storms throughout life to reposition you and I for His call and purpose.
CONCLUSION
I believe in our bible we have the Promises of God. I believe they are timeless, I believe they are passed down from generation to generation, and they are just as precious and available to us then they ever have been.
we must stay anchored in Gods word and his Promise’s
If Paul can have that kind of peace, If Paul can have promise. I believe in 2024 you and I can grab a hold of the peace that comes from God. I believe you and I can stand firm when the winds start blowing and difficulties form against you because if God brought you to it and can Bring you through it. I’m here today testify to that today
So i ask you are you today anchored in Gods word and promise’s?
You may be here today and your facing difficulties in your life and your ready to throw in the towel.I encourage you today don’t give up. Paul tells us to stand firm we can do that because there is Hope Its Jesus Christ.
