Me: Recent events in the history of our nation and anxiety for the future of our country. As I look at into the eyes of my two young sons. I remember taking a walk last week thinking “There is no justice, but there is just us”
A definition of justice is what needs to happen when peace is broken. (examples)…
When some one has stolen something what needs to happen to bring peace between the parties.
Justice is what happens when shalom is been broken.
In the criminal justice system we call that restitution.
It’s why during the 1992 LA RIOTS PEOPLE WERE chanting “no justice. no peace”
And I know that isn’t just my feeling. That can be our feeling. Feeling like when is change going to come and feeling like we’ve been waiting for it for a long time. There is a place where you feel like you lose courage and you fall prey to the temptations to find comfort, power, security, pleasure, and identity in the world. Hopefully today’s word is an encouragement
Luke 18:1–8 ESV
1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’ ” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

scriptural introduction: v. 20 — When is the kingdom coming. When is God’s justice coming?

Be prayerful that God’s kingdom is coming and the injustice Israel is facing will soon come to an end. But when Jesus comes will people have faith?

THE POINT
God will bring his JUSTICE swiftly; don’t stop praying
(Tell the Story)
Luke 18:5 ESV
5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’ ”
Life philosophical lesson:
JESUS is highlighting that we have a misunderstanding of how POWER moves.

People with power don’t have to be good to give justice. People WITHOUT POWER just need to be persistent.

Jesus is also highlighting that there will be a pause between when he goes back to heaven and when he comes back to earth to judge his enemies. You might want to quit, but his justice is quick and his love for us his real. Keep praying…. Don’t lose heart.
Example of How the Ministers Against Crime pushed me to ask a judge over and over to ask for a reduced bond for one of their members. I went the first time lack of success. I told them she aint going to do right. Then they said go again and we will go with you. So I get ready for it and I prep her and her sister for it. 2 weeks later we go and then the judge tells us with all the people in the courthouse she won’t do it.
Don’t you know, I was in there the next day handling something else and the judge had me come up to the bench and she said I though about this all night and I’ve decided to give her what she want.
It was a lesson. It ain’t about the Goodness of the POTENTIAL GIVER, it’s about the persistence of the person who is asking.
ARE YOU WILLING TO CONTINUE TO ASK, OR ARE YOU TO PROUD TO BEG!!!
Luke 18:6–8 ESV
6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
Jesus is saying, while you are waiting on me don’t lose your connection. Let’s stay talking to one another.
If the unjust unloving judge will give what the lady demand — justice, Won’t a just, loving, merciful judge do more than what you have asked.
I might have thought there is “No justice, there’s just us.” No there is justice, his name is Jesus.”
There goes the saying
One day, Amos 5:24 will be true.
Amos 5:24 ESV
24 But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
YOU
Establish a prayer rhythm in your life.
Establish spontaneous prayer.
Let him talk back to you through his Word enlivened by the Spirit
Be encouraged that WHEN he comes back he will put it back right. (
“Now when the sky is darkened There will be no moonlight We'll know the time has finally come And He'll change the wrong to right So if you're always searching Trying to find the bottom line Just give your love and life to God He'll give you a peace of mind”
Everything is going to be alright — Verse 2.
