What if it were today page 153? Think of that? What if it were today? Jesus is coming to Earth again. 153, sing all three verses where sing the first two verses without the chorus. And then we'll sing the third verse with the chorus.

Jesus is coming to coming in power and love.

Play Mister Sun by what is now, the second verse Satan's Dominion with sorrow and sighing shall be no more than it was to meet him in the sky. When there's a faithful and true, If he should come to the watching and Gladys and signs of escaya, humming X morning like Rain-X and whatever it was way, Michelle cry.

That should register a good. Amen.

I was drunk on the street. So rich in the pile is the man of degrees. Today you'll have a sore in need of Salvation and they all have to come by, I'm thrilled how he sets them free. But the biggest surprise is that he would never like me.

No, I'm sorry. I had to be.

Well, I wasn't nothing.

And I wasn't home. Now, I am so glad how he sets them free, but the biggest surprise is that he would say. He's a sinner like me.

I want to pick up our journey studying the Apostle, Peter, but before you turn to the passage, we've been looking at these weeks together and the last time being a few weeks ago, that I was able to open the word of God with you, on this subject of the path of Simon. Peter, I want to begin this morning. By reading Hebrews chapter number 6. So please find your fate your place there. You can follow along as we study in the book of Hebrews. Chapter number 6 is We Begin, but then we will be coming back to Luke. Adjust to read, what's here and Luke's in Hebrews chapter. Number 6. I've titled our message this morning.

From calling to Commission. So while you're finding the book of Hebrews chapter number 6, think about Peter we've been studying Peter, we noticed out Peter was called and he moved from his calling to the commission, Jesus called him out of the group of disciples and chose him to be an apostle. He would called follow me and then he moved to his commission, be an apostle. From his commission. If I have time this morning, Lord willing. I like to also encapsulate with you to his confession. So, there's my title four words for you to hold onto from call from the calling to commission from commission to confession. You see the progression, the call to commission, commission to confession, say that, with me the call to commission commission to confession. So we have a picture of the life of Peter part of that life. Now just tuck this away because this is where I intend to go next after our time here. So this is more forward-looking then I'm going to have time to do with you today, but I want you to get the Fuller picture today, we're only dealing with calling to commission commission to confession. If I have time in future times together, I want you to come back because we're going to see Peter on his journey move from confession to carnality. and then from carnality to conversion, And then, from conversion to confidence. And then from confidence to a Crown of Glory. Hebrews chapter number 6, follow along with me. As I read the scriptures.

Aren't you thankful for the Bible? We had a lot of Bible already this morning and God's giving us his word, his word is our confidence.

Hebrews chapter number 6, therefore leaving. I would say leaving in place. Okay, just leave in place as a foundation. Not leaving is going away from but leaving in place as a foundation the principles of the doctrine of Christ. Hey what do you believe about Jesus Christ? What does the bible teach about him would be a better way to ask that. What is the bible teach about Jesus Christ? Let us go on on the Perfection and that has the idea of maturity hate. Let's grow up a little bit time to grow up. Put your adult thinking hat on, let's think like mature people in Christ. Let us go on on to Perfection not laying again, the foundation of repentance from dead Works. Hey, I hope you got that down already, and if it's a sport God, I hope you have that. Figured out already of the doctrine of baptisms. These are basic things fundamental to Christianity and of the laying on of hands. And this is a huge one of the resurrection of the Dead. Did, you know, there are people right around us that do not believe Jesus rose from the dead.

End of Eternal judgment. If you do not believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you have eternal judgment to face. You will give an account to God. And this will we do, we will what we will leave these things as a foundation and go on to maturity. You trace an argument stay connected to the scripture. We're going to leave these things in place about what we believe we're going to reach further to Greater maturity. We're going to press on as we grow in the Lord. This will we do if God permit for, it is impossible. For those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the Heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost and have tasted the good word of God. Are you thankful for the word of God? Have you tasted and seen that the Lord is good? The good word of God and the power of the world to come. How much have we been approached already in the word of God? Today about the world to come the new Heaven and a new Earth. Old things passed away. Behold all things are become new, the powers of the world to come if they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves, the Son of God of fresh. What a shame? What a shame? The do this to Christ. Again, Christ died, once for our sins, once for all we need, not crucify him, a fresh, and crucify, him a fresh, and crucify him, a fresh, and a new Hebrew says, the Bible says the word of God. Says our Authority for all matters of faith and practice say, But he died once for all, and that's in the same book. We're reading. Go read chapter, 9, and 10. He died once. For all.

They put him to an open shame. When they do, when they crucified of themselves and Son of God, fresh for the Earth, which drink is in the rain that come with off the pain. It bringeth forth, herbs meet or meets suitable complimentary for them by whom it is dressed receive. Its blessing from God, hate the rain brings water in the water brings life. Everything turns from brown to Green. bring us forth herbs receive its blessing from God, but that which bear has its thorns and Briars Don't miss don't miss the metaphor that which bear has thorns and Briars is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing on the threshold of being cast out. Whose end is to be burned. Do you see the metaphor? God gives the word of life and that water of the word of life brings forth fruit in our lives? But we live in a fallen sin, cursed world that's full of thorns and thistles. And those Thorns one day we'll be burned off in the fires of judgment by our God. Now having that established, let's keep reading The writer to Hebrews goes on to tell us but beloved we are persuaded better, things of you. And things that accompany salvation. So you have your salvation through Jesus Christ, his finished work on the cross, he saved you. If you believe in him, if you will, but trust Christ, you can be saved and what a great salvation we have. These are things that accompany salvation go with us. Speak for God is Not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which he have showed toward his name and that you have ministered to the Saints and do Minister. And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full Assurance of Hope unto the end. How's your hope? M today. If we were to do one of those little thermometer exercises in and measure, everybody's hope today, where would you fall on the thermometer scale of Hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

How is your hope?

Full Assurance, would you meet the Demeter of full Assurance? Or would you kind of be somewhere in between no Assurance in full Assurance? How is your assurance?

We desire that every one of you do, show the same diligence to the fullest surance of Hope unto the end unto the consummation of all. Now, he's going to explain that. You be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promise is. Now, that is a, it is a clue for me to think about the Old Testament. To think about who's going to mention here in the next verse Abraham to whom were given the promises of God and his seed after him. So, if you know your Old Testament, you're going to do well reading this portion,

Now listen what he says. Those that through face. Are you thinking of Hebrews chapter 11 right now? You Oughta be Those through through faith and patience, inherit the promises. for when God made promise to Abraham, listen close, because he could swear by no greater he swear by himself saying surely blessing I Will Bless thee and multiplying I will multiply the go back to Genesis 12, those Covenant promises and we know that through Jesus Christ, The Seed of Abraham, All Families of the earth, find that blessing because you can have salvation Through Jesus Christ, that was promised to Abraham all those years ago. Multiplying, I will multiply thee and so after he had patiently endure, he obtained. The promise for men verily, swear by the greater and and an oath for confirmation is too dim in end of all strife. So that being established look at the next stuff raised here. We're in God, willing more abundantly, to show on to The Heirs of Promise, who are The Heirs of promise, those who trust in the promise of the, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, The Heirs of Promise, the immutability of his counsel. That's a big word immutability means, unchangeable unchangeable the immutability of his counsel. What is his counsel? A pulse and have not shown to declare to you. The whole Council of God, The whole Council of God. This is a beautiful thing.

We obtain the promises through the counsel of God. This is immutable. His word is immutable the immutability of his counsel. He confirmed it by an oath. Okay? So explained that we have a colon in the verse that by two immutable things. In which it was impossible for God to lie, a direct quotation from numbers. By the way, I support, since of Deuteronomy, just saturated with Old Testament here, by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, you can put your trust and confidence in the promises, and the Council of the word of God today. If you are here today and you have questions about Jesus Christ, know this God's word will never lie to you. It is impossible. For God to lie to you about eternal things. He is a loving God. Two, immutable things. The immutability of his counsel to immutable things. You see the connection of the immutability of the mutable in which it was impossible for God to lie. We might it didn't say you would, or you shall it says, you might have Strong. I like this word consolation, not just any consolation strong. Consolation is the qualifier. How is your hope today? How is your consolation doing on that? Consolation m. Strong, consolation. Who have fled for Refuge to lay? Hold upon the Hope set before us, which hope we have as an anchor of the Soul, both Shore and steadfast and which interest into that within the veil wither. The Forerunner for us is interred even Jesus made and high priest Forever After the order of Melchizedek. Lord, thank you so much for your word. The immutability of the promises that we find there in regarding our Salvation regarding future things regarding the promises that you will come. Again, help us to Glimpse just a little part this morning with the time you've given us Understand a little piece of that Plan of Redemption by which you are redeeming, a lost and Fallen World back to yourself. Thank you for the cross of Calvary for everything that we discussed this morning hinges upon what Jesus did for us. To purchase our Redemption to pay for our sins and to give us the strong consolation and this hope that lies within us, Lord, I ask that you will guide our discussion in our time of your work today. Help me as I preach. May you give me the unction needed to do the work. That only you can do the work that I cannot do, the work in hearts and lives and what I just beg and ask you that. If there's someone here today that needs to hear the holy spirit, that him, or her, that, that here's your word would hear the pleading of the Holy Spirit to their heart and soul that their Eternal Destiny would be settled. And that they would not be shaken by the things they see going on around them in this life below. We pray these things in Jesus name, amen. Amen. As we begin our journey. This morning I'm picking up my journey talking about the life of Peter. I do want to focus in this first part on that word. Consolation, which is why it took us to Hebrews chapter number 6. Begin. Because as we look at Simon Peter, we've talked about his upbringing. We talked about where he, where he grew up. He was raised. As far as we know, and Beth side of this would be just off of this. The Sea of Galilee the northern shore of Galilee and it would be the, the house of fish, right? Beth side of the house. House of fish. Peter would become a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee when Jesus would call him. Luke chapter number 5, gives us that calling, but I want you to think about what was happening in Israel during that time. When Peter would have been growing up in the nation of Israel. And I want to discuss a under this. The main heading of the consolation of Israel. Setting are setting our Direction on this idea of consolation, want you to notice the Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ, because Peter was called to be an apostle, and see how that apostleship fits into their relationship to Israel and the rest of the world.

So want to discuss briefly. Those that were looking for the consolation of Israel. So you can leave your place in Hebrews, we've established our, our framework by reading chapter 6 together, go over to Luke's gospel and look with me back in chapter number 2. Now we've studied this but it's been awhile. Since we were in Luke Chapter 2. Do you remember when we were in Luke Chapter 2? We're all the way up in Luke chapter 6 now together. Luke chapter number 2. We are introduced to a man that is an amazing character to study in the Bible. And there is a little bit of a similarity so I don't want you to be confused. I'm not talking about Simon Peter but I want to I want to look at this man named Simeon.

And what the Bible describes him as in Luke Chapter 2, I won't read the whole surrounding versus do I encourage you to do so. Look at verse 25 and you'll see that we meet this man, Simeon. Luke chapter 21 verse 25, Luke records and behold. There was a man in Jerusalem. Where was he? In Jerusalem, that's the holy city. That's the city of God's people of the Old Testament. Those two, immutable things. Now, there are some that are here with us today that could give you some good ideas on what those two miserable things are. But can I just apply them this way to amitabul things? What can never change the word of God? So about way of application. Please hear me well on that by way of application, I can apply that to the Old Testament and New Testament. We have the Old Testament promises given to Israel and we have the New Testament for filament through. Jesus Christ Old Testament New Testament. These are the two immutable things by which God cannot lie. His word is true from the beginning by the word of the Lord, where the heavens made. All things there in, you can you can build your face on the word of God.

Behold. There was a man in Jerusalem. And what was his name? Simeon, Simeon. What do we know about Simeon? Just a couple of things here. He was just He was just like other men in the Old Testament, read about, just like, maybe Noah. You would think, up, by Noah, found Grace, in the eyes of the Lord, Noah was a just man. He was upright, that means he was up, he was out. He was a righteous man, not in the sense of his own righteousness, mind you, but righteous and that he believed in doing what was right. Did you know what? Did you know that nobody will ever have a problem with you for doing good and doing humanitarian things. We all ought to do good. Amen. Turn the person sitting next to you and say you need to be doing a good turn each day like the Boy Scouts Class A long time ago because they've changed since since I started all of that. You need to be doing good. No one will ever have a problem with you for doing good. You know, where the rub comes. People will have all kinds of issues with you. When you do what is right.

Did you do what was right? That's the question. Well, how do we know what's right? We live in a day where people say will that might be right for you but it's not right for me and

What kind of foundation do we have? How do we know what's right to immutable things? If you want to know what's right and what's wrong, God, gives us his mind through the pages of scripture. This is our measure. This is our standard for, right and wrong and there are, there are absolutes. There is absolute truth today and you can find absolute truth to the word of God to let the world tell you that there's no absolute truth. God is truth. Jesus Christ said I am the way, the truth and the life. And you can get to the father by coming through the truth, by coming through. Jesus Christ, who said the truth? Shall make you free truth liberates. The truth shows us, the boundaries the truth gives us that space where we can operate freely without fear of condemnation. And I hope that you're walking in truth today. I hope that you're walking in right to Smith's today, Simeon was a just man he walked in the righteousness and a truth of the word of God like Noah did he walked in the righteousness and the truth of the word of God like Jobe did. There was a man in the land of us whose name was Joe than what we know about Jobe. He had the characteristics that Simeon is described as having He was just and devout. He was so devoted to God, Walking In Truth devoted to God. You want a good way to live your life live, your life, like Simeon did walking in the truth of the word of God. And so devoted to him, that nothing can shake you from following and serving God. He was devout. Now, notice this other this other qualification characteristic, if you will have Simeon, he was just, he was devout and he was waiting. He was waiting. And that doesn't mean he was sitting around. Twiddling his thumbs waiting. Okay, I wonder what's going to happen next to. Wait, has to send some scripture. Often times to serve, you go out to eat somewhere and you have a waiter or a waitress come and serve you. What can I can I do for you today? If he's devoutly following the Lord, he saying. How can I serve you today? He's waiting but the context tells us he is waiting for something. Specific he is waiting for The what?

Luke 2:25 he is waiting for the consolation. The consolation. The consolation of Israel. So let's make sure we qualify it properly. What is the consolation of Israel? Is it not the Fulfillment of the promises that were given to Abraham? That Jesus, the Messiah would come. The anointed one of God would would fulfill all things to Remedy Our plight to make a way for us to be right with God and wash away our sins. The consolation of Israel as a nation, they had to they had gotten their eyes on temporal things and many Miss defined that consolation and same day as simply being free from Rome.

And Luke traces. That is that not part of why the religious leaders had rejected Jesus. When he did these wonderful things and and healed people, and taught the truth of God and told this man that his sins would be forgiven and yet they called him a blasphemer. Because well, we know a messiah supposed to look like and you don't look like him according to their definition of Messiah, but God's definition of Messiah goes all the way back to the first promise of the Gospel in Genesis 3, 15.

The snake Crusher. He'll Bruiser Satan to heal Bruiser Jesus. The snake pressure, that old serpent, the devil, the ancient snake. The one who deceives and leads people away from the truth of the word of God. We live in a world of deception today, full of lies and deceit on every hand Jesus told those that followed him, you will know them by their fruits. Just watch, you'll know them by their fruits. Here's this man. Simeon, he's in Israel. He's in Jerusalem and a, he's just, he's, he's devout to God and he's waiting for the consolation of Israel. And a Luke also points out the Holy Spirit was upon him. He was a man full of the Holy Ghost in that day and time the Holy Spirit would come up on his servants. And so this man was lead of the spirit of God. Looking for the consolation of Israel. Was someone else there as well. So let's look ahead a few verses and look at Luke chapter 2, verse 38 There's a lady. It's there in the temple when Jesus Christ, is brought as a baby to fulfill all manners of the law of Moses. As they had to do in that day. This lady's name is Anna and Anna is such a beautiful woman in the scripture. Send me to such a wonderful man to study in the scripture and here is Anna. Luke 238ss, and she coming in that instant gave. Thanks likewise unto the Lord and what did she do? She speak of him to all them that look for what. Redemption in Israel. Jesus Christ came to redeem us from our sins.

To redeem means to be bought back. To purchase us back from the bondage of sin and death. And without the blood of Jesus Christ, we have no hope of eternal life. Without faith and trust in Jesus as the Savior. Hear me. Well, this morning you have no hope of eternal life. You will die in your sins and you will not be allowed or permitted to go. Where Jesus is with the father.

You will instead go to a place of Eternal separation from God to pay for your sins for all eternity. In a place called hell.

I didn't say that God is the one who says that it is worth. I want to be a friend to you and a help in a guide and show you from the truth of the word of God, that there will be an eternal destiny. Were you will spend either eternity in heaven because your sins are forgiven under the blood of Christ. And you've trusted in him, or you will spend an eternity in a place called hell separated from God, paying for your sins for all eternity, where Jesus described it in very vivid language, the worm, dieth not and the fire is not quenched. So Anna is telling everybody she can in the temple area that day where she's at the court of the women wherever she's at, she's lifting up the promises of God and saying you've been looking for Redemption.

It's here. God has finally fulfilled that what she promised in that first immutable thing that God could never lie, the evil filled all the promises of the Old Testament. Jesus has come Hey, how's your hope doing on the Hope M today?

Jesus has come. He came over two thousand years ago, born as a babe laid in a Manger live a sinless. Life went to Calvary laid down his life to pay for your sins. How's your hope M today? if your hope is in anything other or in any one else than the Lord Jesus Christ, I can understand why you would say. My hope is waning.

I hope today is not of the government. I hope today is not an education. My hope today is not in medicine. My hope is not in in politics or any of these things, though. We need good leadership in those areas, please don't misunderstand me. That is not where my hope lies. My hope is not in the strength of our military. Although I believe we should have a strong military and we should we should be able to defend and protect ourselves. My hope is not in it in anything down here. Below my hope is in the Lord.

My hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ. So here are these two people that give us a little indication of the day and which Peter grew up Can you imagine Simon? Peter Simon will call him Simon in the day in which Simon grew up. Can you imagine him? Skipping stones on the Sea of Galilee, right outside of bedside? Maybe with his friend Philip, because Philip grew up there or 2nd Samuel in in some of these other disciples James, and John. Can you imagine them? Skipping stones on the Sea of Galilee in a day when you had men like Simeon in Jerusalem, talking about the consolation of Israel, ladies, like Anna saying, Redemption is here, Redemption is here and it made ripples through Israel. And so by the time, the news comes to Peter and Jesus has done these magnificent things in Capernaum that we read about in chapter 4, after he left Nazareth. And he goes to capernum and he's preaching the kingdom of God. And he's doing miracles to validate that. He has been sent from God and he comes by Peter on the shore that day in chapter 5 and says, can I use your boat today? Peter, I need to teach. And after he gets done teaching, he says, would you launch out into the deep Peter, let down your nets for a drought. We pulled all the night and taking nothing. Nevertheless at thy. Were. I will. Peter believe the word of God. I believe the word of Jesus.

After chapter 5, Jesus continues preaching and teaching he comes in the chapter number 6, and we have a huge Turning Point. In chapter number 6, the religious leaders of Israel. Not Simeon. Not those of Simeon zilk. Not those of Anna's Anna's face. Snow. The religious leaders of Israel who had taken the Pharisees Traditions about how far someone could walk on the Sabbath. And what you couldn't couldn't do, they've added to the word of God. Now, things that God had never said, they've established their own kind of A cult around these pharisaic traditions and they have established these these ways that they can determine well. If Messiah comes then he's going to look like us. Because we're protecting the righteousness of God, which we're, we're keeping ourselves pure.

And Jesus is going to come and challenge them. And they're thinking of what God is doing and they are going to miss Heaven because they can't see who Jesus is now. Not, not all of them, right? But by and large as representatives of the nation of Israel they rejected Jesus Christ. They rejected As Messiah, there were some, you have Nicodemus who came to Jesus by night and I like to believe that Nicodemus somewhere along the line, put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ, Jesus of Nazareth and I hope that I'll see Nicodemus, One Day in heaven. I don't have chapter and verse to prove that, but, but I tend to lean that direction based off what I see him doing at the crucifixion as a secret disciple. We don't like air quotes but a secret disciple and him and Joseph of Arimathea. So among the religious leaders Nicodemus was a Pharisee These kind of people would be people that that we would look up to. And, you know, we would say as parents when my child goes up, I want them to be like someone like Nicodemus, you know, I want them to, to be up standing in the community. I want them to be materially blessed Did you know that the Gospel of Luke is going to spend more time than any other gospel, showing us how Jesus taught those that would follow him, what they should do and what they shouldn't do with their material, possessions and money.

Because this was a trap for the Pharisees. They got into this old miserable comforters of Jobe kind of mindset. Are you with me? No miserable comforters of job. Well job, you must have sinned somewhere in your life because will we put it all in the balances? And we don't know exactly what you did. But you must have made got upset because he took everything away from you. And this mine said, is the fair State mindset of Jesus's day is that if you're materially blessed or if you have material possessions, excuse me than you've been blessed of God.

If you can amass wealth and you can protect that here, temporarily down below and you had this big Kingdom that you're establishing for yourself, if you're serving Mammon. Hello. Then you must be blessed of God. Because God wouldn't do anything. But bless someone who would keep themselves in the fair safe traditions. And so we want to do if you're poor. In the synagogue in Capernaum, the Pharisees are going. Oh, you must have sinned somewhere, either. Either in your mother's womb or somewhere in your life. Remember John 9 who did send this man or his parents that he was born blind. Did you know, they actually believe that you can sit in the womb before you were ever born and receive a curse from God. Because of some sin, you committed in the womb.

As a parent, I never had to teach my children how to do wrong. Anybody else here like that? I never had to teach him how to do wrong. But I also know that there were things that they did before they ever even knew it was wrong, that I knew they were wrong. And they would do things. I would see that little sin nature. Reveal itself, but they were so innocent. They were so innocent for that first part of their life. We brought him home from the hospital that they didn't even know, which way was up half the time we knew when they were up. Parents. But there did come a time in their life and I don't know exactly what age was but, but they understood that there was right and there was wrong.

And I don't know where we where the Pharisees may have missed this whole principal thing, but but they had precedent for this all the way back in the Old Testament, right? Do we not take such comfort from though? It was horrendous circumstances that surrounded, David's, play with his sin with Bathsheba and in the child that she bore do. We not agonize with David when he was fasting? And when he was mourning over the sickness of that, that baby.

We mourn with him at our heart, breaks with him. but do we not at the same time rejoice in In the knowledge of God and in the power of God, that David had the hope and confidence that after he changed his Raven after the child passed away. After that baby died, that baby who? Who is probably too young to know the difference between Good and Evil? That child David's Hope was I can't bring that child back to me but I'll go be with that child One Day in heaven. Who did send this man or his parents that he was born blind. You see the Pharisees got all this material stuff mixed up in their mind. They they were locked onto man and they couldn't see God's truth staring them in the face. They had all these different philosophies these Traditions that they were teaching as the doctrines of God that God never thought.

They were teaching them as the Commandments of God. And in chapter number 6 because they were so steeped in their Judaism, which was rather a cultic in some ways. When you look at the Pharisees, they best the truth of God. so now Jesus Has a decision to make. As representatives of the nation to whom the promises were given. Those two immutable things that wanted me to Bill thing, being being applied as the Old Testament that God cannot lie. All those promises about Jesus Christ. Now, they have essentially rejected, the the consolation of those. They rejected the hope that Jesus Christ came to offer. And furthermore they're going to lead God's people, the people of Israel and the rest of the world mind you into further sin away from God. So, Jesus cannot use the Pharisees.

God, the Father cannot use this pear-shaped tradition to get his truth to the ends of the Earth. And Jesus after they had to commune together how they would put him to death, three chapter 6, they were dreaming up ways that they might kill Jesus because of what he was preaching and teaching and doing the religious leaders had made up their mind. They they called him a blasphemer and charged him falsely with all kinds of things and they want to murder him just like those at Nazareth by the way. Jesus goes away and he spends all night in prayer cuz he's about to make one of the most impactful. One of the, one of the hugest decisions of his entire Ministry, he goes and spends all night in prayer. Looks the only one that points that detail out. He spends all night in prayer. Giving us an example that when we have major decisions to make, we need to bathe those in prayer. And Jesus makes a decision that night, making sure it's in line with the will of the heavenly father, who sent him that it's not too. It's not any other reason than God's will is going to be accomplished. Now that they have rejected him, God still going to have his plan move forward. So, the kingdom of David will be fulfilled one day when Jesus comes, again, he will sit on the throne of David and Jerusalem. He will rule with a rod of iron in the millennial Reign and that is coming. That is future. What if it were today Glory Glory. Our hearts will sink. But we're kind of in this. In between the rejection of Israel of the Messiah. Who would come. And now Jesus, Raises up these 12. And one of them is a betrayer he races up these 12 calls them to be apostles. So look at the apostles and their relationship with Israel. I, I want to make sure that I I help you understand some things about them as well as Peter many other commentators have noted things about these 12, but they know that Jesus chose twelve likely as I believe a symbol of the 12 tribes of Israel. Now, want to qualify that because I hear me, well, These men are not intended ever. Were they intended to replace Israel? So let me let me bear that out with you, but Jesus. Did he not choose 12? The word, is he elected them? He chose them out of those, he called to be disciples, he chose twelve, there is a specific election that is done here. We just came through elections in our country. We chose, as people someone to represent us as a nation. Jesus selected, these 12 to represent his ministry that would move forward, and he would invest a certain amount of authority in them as they would carry the truth of God full word in the absence of the religious leaders of Israel that have rejected him. Now he raises up new spiritual leaders in these apostles. 12 is significant. We have 12 tribes of Israel. We have Twelve Apostles. Jesus is beginning, something new here. The number 12 is not coincidental in the Bible. But it is crucial to understand that they were not chosen to replace Israel. In a literal sense, they were selected to serve Jesus. During this temporal age that we call it here, this age of the church, they would serve him and they would take the gospel forward in the absence of the religious leaders. This is an age that is brought about mind you because Israel had rejected the kingdom of David that Jesus had come to offer at that time. and their rejection resulted in the Kingdom promise to Israel being put on hold temporarily and Jesus raised up these twelve men to serve as new spiritual leaders in the church age, the leaders that the religious leaders of the Jews had failed to be and notably, one day, these Twelve Apostles. As we read in Sunday school, I hope you're paying attention to those verses in Revelation. 21 that brother Tim was reading. If you were in that class with us, one day notably, these Twelve Apostles will judge the 12 tribes of Israel. Twelve Gates made out of pearl. Each one with the name of a tribe of Israel, engraved in it, and Revelation 21, there are 12 Foundation stones, and each one of the names of the 12 apostles will be engraved in those stones.

So if it there's Foundation stones and Gates.

Pretty obvious to me things that are different, are not the same.

Help me out, help. Help me out things that are different are not the same.

Turn over to Matthew chapter 19 and this may be all that. I have time to do with you this morning, but I want you to look at Matthew 19 and and look at the context here and I want to give you a little characteristic of Peter because we're studying him as an apostle as one whose name will be engraved in the foundation. Stones of the New Jerusalem that Heavenly City coming adorned as a bride Out of Heaven. Peter's name will be engraved on one of those foundations comes. And Peter, as an apostle, the Lord Jesus Christ will rule and reign with Christ. And will judge the 12 tribes of Israel, as an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, because he was elected to that office by Jesus himself. Matthew 19, I want you to read verse 28 and then we'll talk about what's happening here in Matthew 19:28. Jesus said unto them. Who did he say this? To you said this to his followers to his disciples. He said unto them verily. That word barely means. Amen. Verily, I say unto you, a man is so let it be, so let it be verily, I say unto you, you was plural. So his disciples that you, which have followed me in the Regeneration when the son of man shall sit in the Throne of his glory. Ye also shall sit upon 12 Thrones judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. So while Peter, his name will be engraved in the foundation stone along with the other apostles. Jesus says, everyone who has followed him. Will be judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Okay, stay in Matthew. I want to read Luke. 22 verses for 30. But stay in Matthew 19 cuz we're going to talk about what's going on here. A little bit more, but it look, 2230. We read this. That you may eat and drink in my table at my table. In My Kingdom. This is the, the Last Supper is, it's called Wright. Jesus is with his disciples, and he's about to be crucified. And he's gathered around this table, he tells him, I'm not going to drink or eat with you again until I I drink it and eat with you in my father's Kingdom, but here and Luke 22. He says that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, whose kingdom, Jesus is Kingdom a kingdom. That is coming a kingdom. That is the promises of David fulfilled. The son of David Val, son of David, have mercy on me, blind Bartimaeus, said his kingdom is coming.

I hope you believe that today. Hey, how's your hope M doing has the world robbed you of the hope of the second coming of Jesus Christ. How's your consolation simeon's consolation? Was that Jesus was going to come at his first Advent wish she did. Our Hope today in that second immutable thing is in the Fulfillment of all of the New Testament promises about Jesus coming again.

How's your hope M into ink? Has the world spoiled you. As the philosophies of this life, as vain, as they are taking your mind and Hope from the strong. Consolation That's in the word of God that you may eat and drink in my table. Jesus says, In my kingdom and listen and sit on Thrones judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. So I told not to leave Matthew 19, we're studying Peter 1, the characteristics we find out about Peter, is that boy? He knew had a bargain. He really knew how to bargain.

The whole surround in context of Matthew 19, when Jesus says, if you've left all of these things, then you'll have these promises. Centers around the Rich Young Ruler. And you can see the corresponding account Mark 10, and that breaks down real easy. When I, when I preached especially children on this, when I teach them about this, I point out the six things that are, there are the Jesus told this this Rich Young Ruler to do.

And you can read those in mark. He was to sell everything he had. What must I do to inherit eternal life? Go sell, give come take follow.

Go sell, give come take follow. Anyone away sorrowful for he had great possessions. Right on the heels of that has. This guy has, his has the dust behind him and Peter and the rest of the Apostles or are watching all this transpire as is the Rich. Young Ruler is kicking up, the dust under his feet going away. Sorrowful Peter looks of Jesus and says, but we're different from him. We're not like him. We're not like the Pharisees, we're not steep in Mammon, we're not following Mammon. We're seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Will be done this thing. So let's read what Peter says. Hey, Matthew 19 verse 27, then after the Rich Young Ruler Adnan away sorrowful then Answer Peter.

And set up the hymn Jesus.

Behold. All right. Be careful. You're going to you're going to school. The Lord Jesus on something here. You're going to tell him be whole.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place. Beholding, the evil in the good. Peter says, behold in case you weren't aware the Lord. What do you say? We have forsaken. All And followed the go sell. Give come take follow. We did that. We first took everything when Jesus came to Peter on the Sea of Galilee the shore gallery. And he said from henceforth, Thou shalt catch, man. Peter just immediately left his Nets left. His his bustling. I mean they could have taken that catch a fish. His brother, Josh told us, when he was here they could have taken that cash that in in and lived high on the hog for quite some time. They walked away from it. All when Levi was sitting at the receipt of custom and Jesus said, follow me, he left all in immediately, followed him, Go sell gift, come take, followed Peter says we have forsaken. All those are Peter's words. We prefer taking everything in our life to follow you, because we believe you are the consolation. You are the hope. It was at his word, that Peter, let down the Nets, it was the word that Jesus had Lord to whom. Shall we go? Thou Hast the words of eternal life, it was the word of God that Peter had built his face on. He says we've left, all we have forsaken, all, and followed it now the bargain.

What's in it for us?

Be careful. Be careful. Be careful your motives in coming to Jesus. Now noticed Jesus did not call lightning down from heaven. He didn't land blast Peter here. He's so gracious isn't Jesus? So Meek is he not even Meeker Moses? So loving so compassionate, so long suffering. So patient with a sinner like me. But the biggest surprise.

Is that he would save a sinner like me. Peter was such a bargainer. What shall we have? Therefore, so, Peter caught the drift of what Jesus was teaching. This young man who went away sorrowful, and he realize what Jesus was saying for. Say call follow me. In Peters is a little gloating here. Can you see that? A little bit gloede, is that a word printers can make up new words? Can't they? He and the other disciples had done. Exactly that. And then he added. What shall we have? A little bit of that self life showing. Little bit of that sin nature rearing its ugly head. An apostle of the Lord. Yeah. Flesh and blood. Yeah.

And so this was a spirit in Peter. I think that we would do well in each of us to guard against he was bargaining with the Lord in a sense. And to look at verse 28 again, with me. And look at what Jesus response hear Jesus said of them. Verily I say unto you. That you would have followed me in the Regeneration. Behold I make all things new, the new heavens and a new Earth in the Regeneration. When the son of man shall sit in the Throne of his glory, he also shall sit upon 12 Thrones judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Jesus goes on to say and everyone that has forsaken houses or Brethren or sisters, or father or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my namesake shall receive an hundredfold and shall inherit everlasting life, is that not the same question. The Rich Young Ruler had asked What must I do to inherit eternal life? Go sell, give come take follow. In other words. Trust trust. In me, Jesus was calling that rich young man to do that until the Lord assured. Peter, this was appreciated. William McDonald, you can go read his words on this. I'll give you those here. As we wrap things up here this morning, the Lord assured, Peter that everything done for him would be rewarded handsomely. Notice it in call fire down from heaven Peters trying to bargain with the Lord. And Jesus doesn't strike him and smite him down. And say, how dare you bargain with me. He's just reassured here in the rest of those that are following him. And and these are some legitimate deep questions that the disciples are pondering. And so Jesus Asher's them that they would be rewarded handsomely as to the 12 specifically, they would have places of authority in the millennium. The Regeneration refers to Christ's future rain on earth and its explained in the expression. When the son of man sits on the throne of his glory. So, this is that future phase of the kingdom and it'll be the kingdom. Then as the compound is called the kingdom in manifestation, Write the kingdom in manifestation, what does that mean? So at that time, the 12 will sit on 12 Thrones, they will be judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. And McDonald goes on to note rewards in the New Testament are closely linked with positions of administration in the Millennium, any references loot 1917 and 19 these positions of administration in the Millennium that he reference? He says, these are awarded at the judgement seat of Christ. They're awarded there but they're manifested when the Lord returns to the Earth to rain rewarded and then manifested the kingdom manifested. As to all believers in general. So that's the 12, right? Okay, are you with me? That's the 12. Their Authority will be manifested in the coming Kingdom. The 12 that he chose Simon. Peter being the first of those 12 as to Believers in general than Matthew 19. Jesus added that all and circle that were all. Cuz this preacher used to say when I was when I was a young Christian who used to say all means all and that's all all means. Oh, who have left houses? or brothers or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children or Orleans For his namesake, what did Jesus promise? He says, all that, leave the things of this world behind all that, leave that and follow him, and do that for the sake of the Lord, Jesus Christ, because of their love and trust in him shall receive an hundredfold and inherit eternal life. So, in this life, they would enjoy a worldwide Fellowship of believers. That more than compensates for severed Earthly ties. You left the house. You left family to follow Jesus. They don't understand why you would give your life to him. The way you did and doesn't make sense. It doesn't matter, you follow Jesus and you leave these Earthly ties for the one house they leave. They receive a hundred Christian homes. Where there warmly welcomed, her lands are other forms of Wells that are forsaken, they receive spiritual riches Beyond Reckoning, This world is not my home. I'm just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the Blue Angels, beckon me from Heaven's open door, and I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

The future reward for all believers is eternal life. Through Jesus Christ. Our Lord. What this does not mean is that we can never do anything to earn eternal life. By forsaking all and sacrificing. That's not how you get eternal life. It's just that just the icing on the cake that all these things that we have in Jesus. The Fellowship of the Believers that the home in heaven, the mansion that's prepared all of these future things, that's just the icing on the cake. Save your fork. The Best Is Yet To Come

And did you know that you can go anywhere on God's green earth? And if you find someone that knows the Lord and has the Holy Spirit living in them where two or three are gathered in my name. There, am I in the midst?

What a fellowship? What a joy Divine leaning on the Everlasting Arms? No, eternal life is not learned by sacrificing, internal life is freely given by the Lord Jesus Christ. Eternal life is a gift. That cannot be learned or merited. So here's a thought is that all those who forsake all are rewarded with greater capacity for enjoying eternal life in heaven. How's your hope M doing today? How's your consolation? In the second coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ. All believers will have that life but not all will enjoy it to the same extent. We have these names of the 12 men that will be engraved on the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem. And enclosing I read these verses from Revelation 21. Verse number 14, Tells us in the wall of the city had 12 foundations. Has anyone ever taken a Bible and shown you how you can go to heaven?

If they haven't, would you let someone in our church? Would you let me or would you let someone here? Take a Bible and show you how Revelation 21 can be your home. Revelation 22 can be your Eternal home by trusting in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead.

The wall of the city had 12 foundation and in them, the names of the 12, Apostles of the Lamb. These Twelve Apostles that were chosen by Jesus and elected to this office of apostle by him are in contrast to The Twelve Gates back up. And look at Revelation. 21 verse 12. In contrast, we see the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. Will be engraved above the gates. This city, John says, had a wall, great and high and had 12 gates. And at the gates, 12, angels, and names written their own, which are the names of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel. So there is a distinction. Between the apostles and Israel. And it is by these two, immutable things.

By which God who cannot lie has given us the strong consolation that lead us to say was John the Revelator even so. Come Lord. Jesus Old Testament, fulfilled, strong consolation in simeon's Day, New Testament. Likewise will one day be fulfilled when Jesus comes again to rule and power and glory and a sit upon the throne of his kingdom bow, the knee?

there's coming a day that Paul tells us in Philippians 2, Every knee, shall bow. And every tongue shall confess to the glory of the father and what is that confession? That Jesus Christ is Lord.

Have you acknowledged him today? Do you have him? Living in you.

Is heaven going to be your home.
