Intro. [SP Note: Allow small groups to talk about their favorite meal at their table and receive their feedback]
Have you ever experienced a meal so good that explaining it doesn’t do it justice? Turn to your small group at your table right now and explain to them the best meal you’ve ever had. Okay I have to hear some feedback right now. Let me hear it!
Tension.
When we think of our favorite meal of all time, and we think, man how can it get better than this!? Like this is the peak of existence right here. And a good meal isn’t only about the meal. It’s about the experience, the people you’re with… the environment you’re in. It’ makes such a difference.
It’s so good that even explaining it doesn’t even come close to the actual experience of it. And this is true in every aspect of life.
Because you can explain to someone that your favorite team winning back-to-back titles is great but the experience of it is different! Go dawgs!
I can explain to you that the feeling of graduating from High School is so great, but you just NEED to experience it!
Transition.
And when it comes to our faith, we can read scripture, hear someone preach, and have it EXPLAINED to us what Heaven is like but the EXPERIENCE of Heaven… is far greater than we can imagine.
Because the Explanation of Heaven pales in comparison to the Experience of Heaven.
Series.
We’ve been talking all month about Revelation. And I know that can be intimidating or confusing, but remember, when you boil it down, the general idea of Revelation can be summed up in these
3 points: God is in control, things are hard, faithfulness is worth it.
Tonight, we’re talking about the best part of the book of Revelation, the part where we discover that our faithfulness to Jesus, even when things are hard, is worth it.”
Scripture.
I don’t know what picture comes to your mind when you think about heaven, but the picture that John paints for us of heaven is a FEAST! Don’t you want heaven to have good food? Amen!
We’re going to be in Revelation 19:6-9
So, John has walked us through what God revealed to him. There’s a picture of God who is in control, and then there’s all kinds of confusing and scary sounding moments in the middle full of demons and dragons and beasts. But after all that settles, Jesus has come back and He’s defeated all of them, God sits down with His people at a feast to celebrate the war being over. Here’s how John describes it…”
Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
“Praise the Lord!    For the Lord our God
For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us be glad and rejoice,    and let us give honor to him.
and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.
and his bride has prepared herself.
She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”    For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”
As we sit down to feast and celebrate the victory of King Jesus, it gets LOUD at the table because God’s people begin worshipping their victorious king. With shouts of praise, thanks, and honor to Jesus!
Their only response is to worship Jesus! And I love how the worship in heaven is not this quiet, reserved, and ominous golf claps following a song. It’s an eruption of love expressed.
But John also mentions something we’re most likely not too familiar with from verses 7b-9… let’s take another look.
7b For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,    and his bride has prepared herself.
and his bride has prepared herself.
She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”    For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”
Here’s what he’s talking about. There’s coming a day when Jesus is returning not as a baby in a stable but this time as a King. He’s returning for a pure bride which is His church.
You see God’s description for His love for His people can be found by describing a bride and a groom. He’s not talking romantically, he’s talking relationally. God’s saying this is how much I love and care about my bride the church. After the groom pays a price to the bride’s family to receive her hand in marriage, they would’ve celebrated, then topped off the celebration with a Feast. This was known as the Wedding Feast of the Lamb. Because Jesus is the lamb of God who sacrificed himself on behalf of our sins.
For a second just imagine feasting with Jesus, your brothers/sisters in Christ, with past saints, and angels in a place where you can experience…. I have a picture to help this sink in a little bit more… This is an AI generated picture of the marriage supper of the lamb:

Unity without division
Fellowship without betrayal
Fulfillment without frustration
Healing without pain
Abundance without need
Purity without corruption
Presence without distance
Joy without end
This is amazing! This is where our lives as believers is headed.
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is an invitation to eternal celebration with Jesus.
It’s not simply a meal – it’s the fulfillment of God’s plan for perfect, eternal union with His people. Every tear wiped and brokenness healed. Pure joy and fellowship with Christ.
Application.
Here’s my question to you: What do you think heaven will be like?
If your picture of heaven is babies in diapers playing the harp and floating on clouds, that will not be a compelling enough picture for you when you’re staring down demons and dragons. You need a picture of heaven that is compelling enough to sustain you standing up against the enemy here and now. You need a picture of heaven that is more valuable to you than your own comfort right now.
Communion.
It’s hard to have a right picture of heaven because we’ve not been there yet. But Jesus has been, and He gave us a picture to remind us in the moments when we forget. It’s communion. A meal with friends and God.”
But communion isn’t simply to remember that Jesus died and rose again, it’s to remember that he’s coming back!
Matthew 26:29
Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”
When the people of God get to celebrate. Here’s why: We’re celebrating 1. Who our King is and 2. What he’s done.
The marriage supper of the lamb being Jesus is going to happen, and he’s going to gather all of His people. The people of God there.
And with that truth, I want to ask you: Are you a part of the people of God who will be there? And if you’re not do you want to be?
Gospel Invitation.Because
Because Everyone is invited but not everyone accepts the invitation.
And if you want to accept the invitation today. Let me share the Gospel of Jesus with you…
Creation. From Adam and Eve up until now we’ve all sinned.
Sin. Making choices that go against God’s intended plan and design for us.
Cost. Sin has a cost, and the wage of sin is death. You die physically but you also die spiritually, and our sin causes us to be in spiritual need. And there wasn’t any amount of good works or deeds we could do to pay the debt we deserved.
Jesus. But God so loved us that he sent his one and only son Jesus, God in the flesh.
Cross. To live a perfect sinless life, then dying a death upon a cross, paying the cost of our sin.
Resurrection. But the best part is that Jesus didn’t stay dead, but He rose again! Proving that he had the keys to death, hell, and the grave.
Faith. Therefore, bringing us back into right relationship with God.
Now today we get to place our trust in him for the forgiveness of our sins and commit to follow him for the rest of our life. With the assurance that we get to experience eternal relationship with Him forever!
So, will you accept the invitation of Jesus today? I believe there may be someone in this room that wants to say yes to Jesus for the first time and if that’s you I want to lead you in a prayer together.
Let’s bow our heads… and if that’s you right here, and you want to say yes to the invitation of Jesus, can you raise your hand?
With everyone’s head bowed and eyes closed pray this prayer with me. “Lord, I come to you and confess that I am a sinner.
I have nothing in myself to save myself. I need a savior, I need you. I believe in my heart that Jesus died for my sins.
I confess with my mouth that He is my savior and my Lord.
You are my God, and I commit my life to follow you. Give me your Holy Spirit, make me a new person, and heal me. Thank you for your love and thank you for Jesus. Amen.”
So right now, we’re going to take communion together.
If you are in the room and you are not a believer, there is no pressure to participate in this moment. This is something we do as Christians to remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

The elements of communion are the bread and the wine, aka grape juice. Jesus told his disciples to take and eat the bread which represents his body that was broken for us. Then he told them to take the wine, which represents his blood that was shed for us.

Before we take communion, I want you to simply take a moment and thank Jesus for coming to earth, dying on the cross for our sins, and promising to return again to wipe away evil once and for all.
[Take communion]
My friends, stay faithful to Jesus, no matter what. Because when this day comes…it WILL be worth it.
