Faith’s Reward

1 Peter 1:9

Scripture: “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

I.                   The surrendered life anticipates the reception of God’s precious gift.

A.     The culmination of daily faith.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths.”

How many Christians have memorized this wonderful verse? It is in this verse we find the truth of what Peter says.

B.     The salvation of the whole man.

Salvation is fixed. That is we are saved at one moment and time. Yet, we won’t realize that salvation until we are received up into glory. That is how the scriptures can speak of salvation as if it has yet to be completed.

When we arrive in Heaven itself, we will be with him. And  when we are resurrected, we shall be complete in Him.

II.                The surrendered life overcomes the world and ends in glory.

Charles Spurgeon used to say, “Little faith will take your soul to heaven, but great faith will bring heaven to your soul.”[1]

A.     Overcomes because we are as much saved now, as we shall be in that day.

B.     Overcomes because…

1)      We are children.

2)      We are paid for with the blood of Christ.

3)      We have been translated from death unto life.

4)      We are amongst the living not the dead.
