INTRODUCTION
2 thoughts
Emotional reaction
To something you wanted, desired (puppy, phone, house, car)
Your favorite team
Major accomplishment
Birthday present
Vacation
This is temporary (it goes away) (One team wins the other loses)
We will talk about happiness that’s not temporal.
Nothing wrong with this
The Bible will let you know that there is a non-temporal (Joy)
The Bible literally guarantees a lasting happiness
Tonight we will look at Ps 1
It’s in 2 parts:

The Blessed Man (Vs 1-3)

The Wicked / Unhappy Man (vs 4-6)

This will only work if you believe in the inspiration of the Bible
There will never be a time with the scriptures are not true. NEED TO HIDE THIS IN YOUR HEART
Part 1
Who is Blessed
Why is He Blessed
What is the Result
We are not talking about the fleeting kind of happiness that’s temporary
You’re going to always smile
You’re going to have a constant feeling an emotional high
And this kind of happiness is a choice - regardless of what is happening
Part 2
Who is not Bless
The failures of His Life
The Results / Justice of God
Not saying that the wicked will never be happy
Everyone has a believe system and your feet will move in the direction your mind thinks
EVERY HUMAN BEING LIVES WHAT THEY BELIEVE
But there will be consequences to what you choose to do! And these consequences are inevitable
God 2 Piles
God 2 Roads
Eve is an example
Psalm 1:1 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
THE MAN IS BLESSED (he did not receive or doing anything)
Ecclesiastes
Atheist, Humanist, Evolutionist
This man is particular about who he associates with
3 postures: Walking, Standing and Sitting
Getting council about God from atheist that is contrary to God (How to raise your children)
What happens when you listen to a certain kind of council - (birds of a feather, glass of water in a room - you chose your path and you stand with sinners.
He becomes one of them (they scorn believers). You become a scornful mocker of God.
Psalm 1:2–3 ESV
but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
This delight is not like the delight in worldly things (THIS IS NOT THE SAME LEVEL OF FUN)
This delight is in God Word
(DO YOU WANT TO BE A GOOD PERSON)
Psalm 1:4 ESV
The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
There is no weight or substance to them and blown away by the slightest wind.
What remains - THE TRUTH
Psalm 1:5–6 ESV
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
