Introduction

As Paul closes his letter to the Romans, he offers a beautiful doxology, praising God for revealing a mystery hidden for ages, now made known through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This mystery, once concealed, now empowers us as believers to live in God’s strength and bring glory to His name.
Paul’s words are not just a conclusion but a call to live empowered by the gospel, with a heart full of gratitude, as we reflect on God’s wisdom and glory.

Romans 16:25-27

Romans 16:25–27 NIV
Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith—to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Foundation of Faith: Empowered by Mystery

Paul begins by praising God, “Now to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ…” (Romans 16:25). Here, Paul reminds us that God has the power to establish or strengthen us in the faith through the gospel.
The "mystery" Paul refers to is the gospel itself—the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, which had been hidden for long ages but is now revealed. This mystery wasn't an afterthought or a change of plans.
It was always part of God’s design, and through Christ, we now have access to the fullness of God’s redemptive plan. Something we are seeing on Tuesday Nights as we are journeying through the opening pages of the book
We are empowered by this revelation.
The gospel is the foundation of our faith, and it gives us the strength to live out our calling in a world that often feels unstable.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power that works in us, establishing us, holding us firm in the faith, and equipping us to glorify God.
As Christians, we are not left to our own strength.
We are established by God through the gospel, giving us stability in times of uncertainty.
This truth should encourage us to stand firm, knowing that the mystery of God’s salvation is no longer hidden but revealed in Christ, and we are empowered to live out this truth in our everyday lives.
This doesn’t have to look like going on a mission trip (though it could) or look like becoming a full time pastor or what not. But in our everyday life we live out the good news of Jesus Christ.
He has already won the victory.

Faith's Fulfillment: Global Revelation

Paul continues to say, that this mystery has now been “revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, to advance the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles.”(v26)
This is not just a Jewish message or a secret for a few—it’s a message for all nations.
The gospel is universal, extending to all people regardless of race, background, or status. Through Christ, God's plan is revealed to the whole world.
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies, the key to unlocking the mystery, and now the good news is for everyone.
The mystery revealed brings about the "obedience of faith."
This means that our response to the gospel is not just intellectual assent, but a transformed life.
Faith leads to obedience, and obedience glorifies God.
As believers, we are called to share the gospel, the revealed mystery, with others.
God’s plan for salvation extends beyond us; it is for the whole world. Our role is to manifest this truth, living out the obedience of faith so that others may come to know and glorify God.

Glorifying God Forever

Paul concludes with “To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.”
This doxology serves as a powerful reminder that everything points to God’s glory. The revelation of the mystery, the gospel, the salvation of all people, the establishment of believers in faith—all of it is for God’s glory.
God, in His infinite wisdom, has orchestrated a divine plan that brings together people from all nations into one family through Jesus Christ.
And through Christ, we give glory to God—forever.
It is through the Son that the Father is glorified, and it is through our lives, empowered by the gospel, that we reflect this glory back to Him.
Our lives should be lived with one overarching purpose: to glorify God.
When we understand the revealed mystery of the gospel and the power it has in our lives, we are compelled to live in such a way that points others to the greatness of God.
The doxology is a reminder to lift our eyes off ourselves and give glory to the only wise God, who has made known to us His glorious plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Next Steps

As we leave today, let’s remember that we are empowered by this gospel, strengthened by God’s might, to live lives that reflect His glory.
The mystery is no longer hidden; it has been revealed in Christ. And now, we are called to live in obedience of faith, spreading the good news of salvation to the world, all for the glory of God.
To Him, the only wise God, be glory forever, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
As we reflect on Romans 16:25-27 and the mystery of the gospel revealed, here are some practical steps to help us live empowered by this truth:
1. **Deepen Your Understanding of the Gospel**
Spend time studying the richness of the gospel message. Dive into both the New and Old Testaments to see how God's plan for salvation has been unfolding. Consider joining a Bible study group or using study tools to explore the prophetic writings that point to Christ.
2. **Live in the Power of the Gospel**
The gospel is not just a message we believe, but a source of strength for daily living. Reflect on areas of your life where you need God's strength to stand firm. Invite the Holy Spirit to empower you in your relationships, your work, and your walk with God. Make it a habit to rely on the gospel's power in difficult moments.
3. **Share the Gospel with Others**
The mystery revealed is for all nations, and we are called to participate in spreading the good news. Pray for opportunities to share your faith with others—whether it’s through conversations, acts of kindness, or inviting someone to church. Think about one person you can reach out to this week with the message of Christ's love.
4. **Glorify God in All Things**
Whether in your actions, words, or thoughts, seek to bring glory to God in every aspect of your life. This week, reflect on how you can intentionally glorify God in your family, work, and community. Look for opportunities to offer thanks and praise, acknowledging God’s wisdom and grace in all that you do.
5. **Join in Worship and Service**
Glorifying God is a communal act as well. Join your church family in worship, and consider getting involved in a ministry or service opportunity that reflects God's love and spreads the gospel. Whether it’s through volunteering, missions, or simply being available to serve others, your participation is a way to live out the obedience of faith.
By taking these steps, we align ourselves more closely with God's plan, living out the revealed mystery of the gospel, and shining His light for others to see His glory through us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for revealing the mystery of Your plan through Jesus Christ. Strengthen us by Your gospel, empower us to live lives of obedience, and help us to bring glory to Your name in everything we do. We praise You for Your wisdom and for including us in Your glorious plan. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Sing Doxology
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
