His Glory and Presence
His Glory and Presence
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
The Train of His Robe Represents His Glory
The Train of His Robe Represents His Glory
There is nothing like being in the presence of God! Are you seeking His Glory?
In preparing this message, I saw a vision of the train of His robe covering America. Going from town to town. His glory flowing to all the dark places of this land and transforming them. Jesus is calling us to His Glory.
When you are in God’s Presence
Demonic power is nothing
Rejection is powerless
Failure is impossible
Isaiah has already started his ministry, yet it is not until Chapter 6 where he is overwhelmed by the Glory of God.
The Preacher’s Commentary Series, Volume 17: Isaiah 1–39 (The Sovereignty of God)
Every symbol in Isaiah’s vision of God is significant. In the first five chapters we learn that Israel had become too complacent in its security to heed the warnings of God and too corrupted in its prosperity to escape the wrath of God.
Not only that, but Uzziah, a good king for fifty-two years, had become arrogant, profaned the temple, contracted leprosy, and died in shame.
All of Israel needed to be shaken by the vision of the LORD “sitting on a throne, high and lifted up” with the train of His robe filling the temple.
America needs to be shaken by the vision of Yesuah on the Throne!
Like Israel, America is too complacent.
Like Israel America trust in earthly security.
Like Israel America is corrupt in Prosperity.
We must come to the Glory of God!
God’s Glory does not fade
No matter what the State of California does, God’s Glory shines
It does not matter what happens in Washington DC, God’s Glory fills the earth.
It does not matter what is happening in your finances, God’s Glory is with you!
It does not matter what is happening in your marriage or relationships, God’s Glory is the cure
God’s Glory transforms you into His image, from Glory to Glory.
Are you overwhelmed by God’s Glory?
Are you overwhelmed by God’s Glory?
God’s Glory is here. It fills the earth. It does not matter what you see all around you.
God’s Glory does not fade.
His Glory increases.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
There are two aspects of covering your face:
You cover your face because of the shame of your sin
You veil your face with works of the Law to hide your sin
You must have an unveiled face to behold His glory!
The Greek word for Unveiled comes from kalypto to hide with the prefix ana un anakalypto to uncover to reveal
What are you hiding from God?
What are you hiding from God?
Trying to hide your sin from God? Trying to cover your transgressions? Making excuses. Running from His presence?
If you want to see God’s Glory, your face must be uncovered because your sins are covered!
Psalm 32:1–5 “1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah”
Pride must die to see God’s Glory
Pride must die to see God’s Glory
This dynamic prophetic call to Isaiah came the year Uzziah (who was also called Azariah) died. Although Uzziah was a good king of Israel, he became full of pride and as a result he died of leprosy. Uzziah represents Pride!
1 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, began to reign. 2 He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. 3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. 4 Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.
Not only was Uzziah failing in his walk with God, but Israel was also sacrificing on the high places.
Pride caused Uzziah to be unfaithful to the Lord! He was struck with leprosy.
Pride caused Uzziah to be unfaithful to the Lord! He was struck with leprosy.
2 Chronicles 26:16–20 “16 But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 17 But Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, 18 and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.” 19 Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the Lord, by the altar of incense. 20 And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the Lord had struck him.”
Is your life full of pride? Do you get puffed up? Uzziah was offering incense to God in the place of worship, yet that was only an expression of pride.
You won’t experience God’s Glory with a Prideful Heart!
You won’t experience God’s Glory with a Prideful Heart!
Pride is an unhealthy elevated view of one’s self, abilities, or possessions.
23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
Uzziah was
Proud to his destruction
Unfaithful to the Lord His God
Became angry
12 Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
According to Christian teachers, the essential vice, the utmost evil, is Pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind.…
The root of pride is saying that we can do without God.
James Montgomery Boice
Other sins are against God’s law, but pride is against God’s sovereignty.
Thomas Manton
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Pride will bring about destruction to both leaders and followers, masters and servants.
Nations turn against Him, but His will prevails;
kings compete with Him, but fall in shame;
people turn from Him to worship idols, but their false Gods crumble.
Even His people refuse to trust Him, but they do not escape punishment.
To avoid becoming prideful we must see God in His holiness.
This is a call for us to seek God’s Glory through seeing His Holiness.
When we see His Holiness we will cry: Woe is me!
When we see His Holiness we will cry: Woe is me!
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
Of course, unclean lips are the products of an unclean heart. The prophet knew that he could not faithfully preach for the Lord unless he was prepared and cleansed.
Warren W. Wiersbe
Many pray with their lips for that for which their hearts have no desire.
Jonathan Edwards (American Evangelical Preacher)
If we truly want to see revival in our land, we first become a people that sees the Lord high and lifted up and understand that we are undone without His touch.
In God’s presence the Christian feels overwhelmed and undone, yet there is nowhere he would rather be than in that presence.
A. W. Tozer
What does it mean to be undone? Have you ever felt undone? You’ve come to the end of yourself?
To be undone means to come apart at the seams, to be unraveled.
R. C. Sproul
We cannot have one spark of real humility till we are abased before God, as guilty, helpless, and undone creatures, who have no hope but in the tender mercy of God in Christ Jesus.
Charles Simeon (Leader of the Evangelical Revival)
Many believers today are weak and require hours of counseling because they did not experience the power of convection at conversion.
They have never come into the presence of God and experienced being undone.
Hugh Kerrand and John Mulder wrote the book Conversions where they studied and describe the testimonies of great spiritual leaders from the Apostle Paul to Charles Colson. They looked at Augustine, Calvin, Bunyan, Wesley, Spurgeon, Tolstoy, William Booth, Schweitzer, C.S. Lewis among others.
They state that with every conversion they studied, there was an agony of the soul. They all experienced these four aspects:
Four aspects of Conversion
• the stab of conscience
• the shame of inward uncleanness
• the remorse for sin
• the sensation of being lost and alone.
When you are confronted with the Holiness of God you cry, Woe is me!
The Preacher’s Commentary Series, Volume 17: Isaiah 1–39 Cleansed by Fire
If our spiritual cleansing is partial, our spiritual consecration is dull, and our spiritual commitment is shaky
Forsake earthly wisdom and seek the wisdom from above
Forsake earthly wisdom and seek the wisdom from above
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
It is God’s will for you to be cleansed
It is God’s will for you to be cleansed
1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
Jesus is calling you today to forsake all your sins. He is calling you to weep and cry, to become undone because of your sin.
Because of your pride
Because of your compromise
Because of your lust
Jesus is calling you to confess your hidden sins to Him. In doing so, He will take a coal off the alter and cleanse you. It is God’s will for you go be cleansed!
Unclean Lips are Cleansed through Confession and Repentance!
Unclean Lips are Cleansed through Confession and Repentance!
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Send Me!
Send Me!
Will you be willing to encounter a radical Heart transformation? Willing to be cleansed from you sin and pride? Willing to be undone?
God is calling His people to Himself!
6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
