Thoughts like Jesus

Paul has given us a challenge to live worthy of our calling
Philippians 1:27 ESV
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,
and our Key today is Humility
Humility is expressed because of our thought processes
we must learn to think like Jesus
something we all struggle with to some degree or another
we talked like week about Joy in suffering
about Controlling your perspective
and now we visit your thought processes
We all have a SELF Protection Problem
and we surrender to the wrong desire
to protect self, instead of Serving Him
We pridefully protect ourselves
and in doing so
project that the ONE we serve
is ME and not the LORD
We must change that mindset and THINK LIKE JESUS
We are wired in our earthly self to self protect
which is in contrast to living like Jesus
and it will start with our thoughts
Our verses today are :
Philippians 2:1–11 (ESV)
1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,
2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We can pull a few words and concepts out of this verses to explore
Onemindedness - Leads to Joy
Humility is another Key to Joy
We must develop the mind of Christ --- God and then others before self
Humility involves emptying of self
Our reward is in Heaven and not on this Earth
Our partnership (key one),
and our steadfast (key 2) commitment
to enduring hardships
when done with love
will lead to you and our church to be
increasing in being like-minded with Christ.
ONE LOVE, ONE MIND, ONE SPIRIT
This is our path so far.
Humility is the action step to enter this progression towards completion
Jesus did it so we should also.

Risk Reward

Would you take a pie in the face
for a quarter
how about for 5.00
okay how about a 100.00
how about for 1 million dollars
Same action, different reward
you start to way the COST and the REWARD
RIGHT?
This is a challenge we have in the Christian Life
We lean on our own understanding and weigh the costs
instead of OBEYING and SURRENDER
We see the Ultimate reward as not worth the price
Submission to each other in marry will solve your marriage issues
Surrender to Christ and to Others will solve your STRUGGLE in your Daily Walk
our VERSES TODAY
WILL SOLVE YOUR STRUGGLES
THEY WILL SHOW YOU JOY IN ALL THINGS
Our verses today say that right living will lead to the reward in Heaven
and this is NOT how we are wired.
We have a “I deserve” I problem?

I Deserve

Is not this the real problem in our ability to Walk like Jesus
We believe that we DESERVE
What do we DESERVE?
The Bible says that we are Sinners
The Bible says that we are in NEED of a Saviour
and that our only Saviour is Christ Jesus
We must
Romans 10:9 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Because of
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
We were deserving death.
One of the main reason i dislike that TERM so Deeply
In conflict resolution
the I DESERVE attitude is always the BARRIER
I just want to shake the sin out of them
We want others to hear and correct
wrong behavior
but we don’t like it returned on US
THE key today is Humility
it is about our thought process
to Think like Jesus ----- to Serve God and Think of Others
so we need to discuss
everyone’s favorite word

Surrender

Lets face it
we only like that word in ONE DIRECTION
We like when our children are obeying us
when our staff is in line
when we are being served by our spouse
yet we are NOT to focus on being served but TO SERVE
just as Jesus did
Lets read our verses again today
Philippians 2:1–11 (ESV)
1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,
2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Surrender by being a Servant to Others
Serving Christ Jesus as Christ Jesus Served The Father
Matthew 20:28 (ESV)
28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
What if decided to SERVE always?
What if our IDENTITY was in Serving Others?
What if our Legacy was that of a servant?
Friends
Our passages today starts with the theme
of Being of the SAME MIND and the SAME LOVE
There is NO WAY to achieve that if we are FOCUSED on OURSELVES
We MUST work hard to FOCUS on CHRIST LIKENESS TOGETHER
IF we are ALL Focused on CHRIST
IF WE remind ourselves and others to FOCUS on HIM
then we can achieve UNITY in CHRIST
It is when our selfish needs take over that WE fail in this mission.
We are to be of ONE MIND
We are to display and act with ONE LOVE
to SERVE ONE
and that one is NOT YOU, but HIM
Here is the Reward
Listen carefully
Philippians 2:9–11 ESV
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I want to GLORIFY GOD BY GROWING OTHERS IN CHRIST
Will you be LIKE MINDED
WILL YOU HAVE THE SAME MIND
That is the MIND OF JESUS
To THINK LIKE JESUS
CAN YOU SURRENDER and Walk in HUMILITY?
Can you STOP the I Deserve mindset?
Can you commit to helping yourself
and Others to be MORE like JESUS Daily?
I know we CAN
