Joseph Had The Chance For Revenge

When Joseph’s brother first came to him in Egypt Joseph could have taken advantage of this opportunity to take revenge on his brother.
There are going to be people that wrong us in our lives but we need to remember to be like Joseph. He even treated them better than he should have by giving their money back.
We do not need to take the chance to have revenge. We need to listen to the Holy Spirit and do what we know is right in that moment.

Judah Reminds Us Of Christ

Genesis 44:33–34 NIV
33 “Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord’s slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers. 34 How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come on my father.”
I first realized this while I was listening to a sermon by RC Sproul
This is an amazing story that we see here. Benjamin is being punished for a crime here and Judah steps in and says please take me instead. This is amazing symbolism of what Christ
We have to remember that Christ has done the same thing that Judah was willing to do for his brother.

Joseph Forgave His Brothers

Genesis 45:4–8 NIV
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
We see here that Joseph did not only not get revenge on his brothers but he also forgave them.
I think one of the things that helped him forgive them is by seeing what God was doing even with this evil that they had done.
Who is someone that you might need to forgive?
Is there someone that you are hold a grudge against? Or someone you want to take revenge on?
