Intro: If you were with us last week we looked at how we are in the end days, that these days will be filled with tribulation, but when the world is on fire the saints are refined.
Today we see that these end days are ruled by Christ. We see the nature of his kingship
Freeing us Rev 1:5b
When prisoners of sin are set free God’s kingdom has come. His reign is triumpant.
If we would have God reign over us, then, sin must have no reign in our mortal body. We must put to death what is earthly in us and bear the fruits of the Spirit, so that God may walk in us as in a spiritual garden and reign alone in us with his Christ, so that Christ may be seated within us at the right hand of that spiritual power for which we pray, seated until all his enemies within us are made a footstool for his feet and all the principalities and authorities and powers are destroyed in us. Origen of Alexandria (184-253)
Remaking us Rev 1:6
As priests - God’s kingdom comes through us!
Worship God
This whole sentence
Bring God to the world.
The kingdom of God comes through his people, the church.
“When God goes to work-when Jesus becomes king-human beings are not downgraded, reduced to being pawns or ciphers. In God’s kingdom, humans get to reflect God at last into the world, in the way they were ment to. They become more fully what humans were meant to be. That is how God becomes king. That is how Jesus goes to work in the present time. Exactly as he always did.” - Simply Jesus, 213. Salt and Light.
Jesus was interrogated, we might find our selves investigated, or at least inquired of
Thanksgiving
Be a priest at thanksgiving…secular culture, share the reasons why you do what you do…this weird thing may happen where they open up…make an invitation.
Youth group leading the way with invitations…two got baptized, 6 at Busch gardens
By judging us Rev 1:5a, 1:7.
Jesus as king of kings, as the Lord will hold all to account
In our day we get wrapped up in how someone comes to power - elections
In there day they were more concerned with how those in power will be held in account
Jesus will judge the world by the standard of righteousness.
Everyone in the history of the world will give an account.
J.I. Packerd says the one line of the gospel is this: The judge has become our savior.
Judgement is coming. Seek salvation yoursevles in Christ. Rejoice that you’ve been freed from your sins. Exercise your priesthood by praising and proclaiming all the days of your life.
