WHAT TAKES MULTPLE YEARS, ENDLESS HOURS, AND 100S OF HILARIOUS JOKES?!!
PREACHING THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF MARK
WRAPPING UP MARK!!!
Mark 16:17–20 ESV
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
Mark 16:17–18 ESV
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
And these signs will follow those: Jesus gave His disciples a promise of divine power and protection.
NOT TO TEST GOD, NOT TO PROVE HOW MUCH FAITH
i. This promise is to be understood in the context of the dangers inherent in the worldwide spread of the gospel,
Jesus never intended drinking poison or handling snakes to be a specific test or measure of faith.
TEST ONLY IN TITHES AND OFFERINGS-MALACHI 3
Interestingly, the Hebrew word used for “test” in this verse is bachan, which means “to examine, scrutinize, or prove (as in gold, persons, or the heart).” Just as gold is “tested” with fire to prove its quality, God invites Israel to test Him in tithes and offerings and see that He proves His faithfulness in response. There is another Hebrew word for “test” used elsewhere in the Bible. Nasah means “to put to the test, try, or tempt.” It is used in Deuteronomy 6:16, where God commands Israel to not test Him: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.”
JESUS REFERENCED
Matthew 4:5–7 (ESV)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “ ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ” 7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
Mark 16:19–20 ESV
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
FEW QUESTIONS:
WHO WENT OUT?
THEY.....not SOME, not a FEW, THEY-------MEANING ALL-----Not just the preachers, not just those with the gift of evangelism. You don’t get an “escape out of jail free card”
YOU HAVE A MINISTRY- MINISTER = SERVANT
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 ESV
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
YOU ARE A MINISTER OF THE MESSAGE!
WHO, YOU!!!!!
next question, WHERE?....BACK TO THEIR HOMES? STAYED IN THEIR LITTLE TOWNS?
Mark 16:20 (ESV)
20 And they went out and preached EVERYWHERE...
EVERYWHERE? out and
WHEREVER YOU GO, THAT’S YOUR MISSION FIELD!
WHO= YOU
WHERE=EVERYWHERE
WHAT= PREACHED
Mark 16:20 (ESV)
20 And they went out and PREACHED everywhere...
KAY-ROO-SO
went preached"to be a herald," or, in general, "to proclaim,"
n the biblical times, a herald was a representative of the king. When the king had vital information to communicate to his subjects, he did not call a press conference or post something on the royal website. Instead, he sent his herald to deliver a message to his people. This role carried with a grave responsibility.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO PREACH, YOU JUST HAVE TO PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS!!
Who went with them?
Mark 16:20 (ESV)
20 ...while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
Joshua 1:9 ESV
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
SIGNS.......HOW BOUT FRUIT
NOT FOLLOW SIGNS....LETS BARE FRUIT AND THE SIGNS WILL FOLLOW!!!
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
WHEN YOU GO, WHEREVER YOU GO, THE LORD IS WITH YOU....SO GO!!!!!!
