Introduction:

Good morning everyone, its good to be able to come together for worship this morning. These pass couple of weeks we have been looking at the Miracles of Jesus Christ. We have talk about the casting out of unclean spirits, the healing of Peter’s Mother-in-law, The healing of the Leper, and the last week we talk about the healing of the Paralytic man. This week we’re going to be looking at the Reasonableness of Jesus Miracles, the Reality of Jesus Miracles, and The results of Jesus Miracles. As Christians we understand that because of Jesus Christ we are able to come to the throne of God with confidence. John 14:6
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
with out Christ than it impossible to come to God. today there are many that Christ never existed, or do not believe in God. it would be a miracle for life itself to exist without God, and Christ.

The Reasonableness of Jesus’s Miracles:

One of the few things that people have is (1. The difficulty of understand the Miracles of Jesus Christ. (2 The second thing that people today have trouble with is trying to explain what a miracle is. Today a the word miracle is use vague. People will calling anything good that happens to them a miracle. these past several weeks we have talk about some amazing things that Christ did while he lived. The problem with today is that people try to find a way to logically explain, or people try to rationalize these miracles in some way. we as Christians believe that things happen they way they are written done, in turn we are questioning God, and Christ if we try to water down his words. Lets turn in our Bibles to Mk 10:27
Mark 10:27 NASB95
27 Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
From this verse here in the Gospel of Mark we come to moment in Jesus Life where he is teaching his disciples an important lesson, and this lesson still applies today. is that mankind will eventually fail, but with God the being who created the universe anything is possible. From the verse here in Mark Jesus is remind his disciples to not trust in mankind, but to trust in God. Today many people struggle in trusting in God, because they do not know him, or believe in God. there even Christians who struggle with trusting in God, when life distracts them from God. with this verse we as Christians believe, and understand that with God anything is possible. Let turn in our Bibles to 2nd Tim 3:16
2 Timothy 3:16 NASB95
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
another thing to think about here is that as Christians we believe and understand that anything written in the Bible is the truth. Paul who is reminding Timothy that all Scripture is inspired by God. As Christians this why we have hope in God’s word, why would the being in that created the universe, and send his son to die for mankind lie? our faith is base on trusting and doing the will of God. our hope is in Jesus Christ who died for our sins, who is said to be the son of God. if his death has no meaning then why should we believe, have hope, do things that are pleasing to God? Because its the hope that God provides, it the history of the Old Testament that makes realize God who kept his promise to the Israelite people. God is a being who cares, and wants a relationship. Now lets think about another thing for moment, the critics were all present when Jesus heal the Paralytic man back Mk 2:10-11. not a single one deny that the man got up and walk. when Jesus preform his miracles he did publicly, and he did among non-believers. those among the crowds witness things that were unnatural to laws of man. Lets look at the healing of the Blind man who was born blind in gospel of John 9. Those who were Jealous, who envy, who even hated Christ tried to discredit his divine nature. John 9:16
John 9:16 NASB95
16 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was a division among them.
From this verse here in the Gospel of John we see that the Pharisees were trying find reasons to explain these signs that were happen yet, they could not deny that these miracles where happening. another time when the Pharisees felt this kind of pressure is couple of Chapter farther in John, in John 11:47, this happen after Jesus just raise Lazarus from the dead, The Priest, and The Pharisees all struggle with how to explain these signs to the people who were beginning to believe. they could no longer deny the things that were happening. even during the Pentecost they did not deny Peter who told about the things that had happen, Lets turn in our Bibles to Acts 2:22
Acts 2:22 NASB95
22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—
From this verse here in Acts right after the death of Christ, Peter calls them all out. you where there when he did these things, and yet you still chose not to believe the things that happen. The truth is very simple Jesus Christ had power over nature, had power over diseases, had power over unclean spirits, had power involving supernatural knowledge, and had power over death. Jesus really healed Paralytic man, Jesus really healed Peter’s Mother-in-Law, Jesus really cast out unclean spirits, and Jesus really brought Lazarus back from the dead. The reality is that we as Christians cannot phantom or comprehend the nature of God, and Christ.

The Reality of Jesus Miracles:

Now this leads to our next point for today. The reality of Jesus Miracles. we will see more of these miracles throughout Christ life. Remember i mention the term Miracle, and how we miss use its meaning? for example “it would be a miracle if nothing bad happens at work today” or for younger people it will be a miracle if i past this test this week even though i did not study for. A Biblical view of Miracle is that is was something that did not happen everyday, it defy the natural laws of the world, or human effort. From this we understand that Jesus was not limit concerning Miracles. Lets turn in our Bibles to Jn 3:34
John 3:34 NASB95
34 “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.
Christ was sent to be our example, our foundation, our hope, our savior, our advocate, our mediator, and our high priest. Christ was to be many things to those who believe. Christ had a Spirit without measure. As Christians we understand that Christ was not limited by the faith of others also. Sometimes the people Christ heal had faith like the leper mention back in Mt 8:2
Matthew 8:2 NASB95
2 And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
There is also no indication a person who could not have faith, but the faith of others could. think back to the Paralytic man the four man who brought him to Christ in order to be heal back in Mk 2. we can also tie in the time Jesus brought back Lazarus from the dead too. it was faith. it was because of Christ who Christ was. there were no limits to who or what he could cure or heal we can see that here in the Mt 4:23
Matthew 4:23 NASB95
23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
Jesus Christ was healing everyone that was brought him and those who were seeking him. another think to think is that there was no limit of how many people were healed. Jesus never experiences any failures when heal or cast out. Now this should bring our attention to the Characteristics of Jesus Christ healings. (1 The healing were immediately happening there was no time process during the healing or casting out of the the unclean spirits. Look at the leper from the view in Mat 8:3
Matthew 8:3 NASB95
3 Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
From this verse here at the end we see that the leprosy was gone immediately. we can even tie in the Paralytic man, back in Mark 2:12
Mark 2:12 NASB95
12 And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”
The Paralytic was told to get up and take his pallet. but here in verse 12 here we see that is exactly what he does. (2 The second thing that should notice about Jesus Healing’s is that the healings were complete. what this means was that everything was restored back to original form. limbs were completely restored, sight was restored, the dead were brought back from the dead. (3. The third point here we need to understand is that healings were convincing, there was no who could deny what had happen. The scribes, the Pharisees, and the Sadducees al try to say that he was not from God, they said that does this in the name of Beelzebul; the best example of not being able to deny is the paralytic man, because of these healing and Casting out unclean Spirits brought news about this Jesus Christ and his disciples. People begin to follow Jesus Christ, Lets turn in our Bibles to Mt 4:24-25
Matthew 4:24–25 NASB95
24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
From this passage and from the other points of views from the other Gospels we come to understand that Jesus Christ fame begin to grow because of these miracles, not only that people begin to follow him. we all understand that Jesus was not send here just to heal and preform miracles. Jesus was sent to here to teach also, which in mention here in Lk 4:43
Luke 4:43 NASB95
43 But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.”
Christ was send here to teach and to bring the lost back to God. we can look at Lk 19:10
Luke 19:10 NASB95
10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
From these verse here we understand that Jesus was send to teach and bring the lost back. this does not mean that Jesus did not have compassion for mankind suffering. As Christians we understand that Jesus did in fact have compassion for mankind. we can see that back in Mk 1:41
Mark 1:41 NASB95
41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
Jesus had compassion but his first priority was not healing and preforming miracles. Jesus was more concern about the souls of men, not their bodies, think back in Mk 2:5 the first thing Jesus did was forgive them of there sins. This kind of leads to a problem with the modern world, and early church after the death of Christ is why do people struggle understanding the miracles of Jesus Christ. Well there many who claim to have the same power of Christ. yet they do all these things for show, and we see no results. Jesus’s miracles were able to heal immediately, then the were able complete the person of his or her illness or disease, and finally Jesus was able to convince even those who could not deny what had happen.

The Results of Jesus Miracles:

From the Bible we can see that results of Jesus Miracles are really and what have happen. All these miracles that were preform were ment to show the Jewish people and the gentles that Christ was the son of God, and that he was also sent here to be mankind savior. From the Miracles we can see that all them had some short of impact on those who have witness them. From every single miracle we come see the impact they had on who, and those around.
They were amazed Mk 2:12.
They were astonished Lk 5:26.
They were filled with awe Mt 9:8.
They all glorified God Mt 9:8; Mk 2:12; Lk 5:25-26.
The miracles were provide in order to stress and convince the people that Jesus was the son of God. As Christians we understand that Jesus was the true son of God. These miracles were to show the authority and power Christ in the physical body. Mt 9:4-6 is the best example for this
Matthew 9:4–6 NASB95
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts? 5 “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’? 6 “But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your bed and go home.”
Verse 5 and 6 are really the key to showing who Christ was. as we continue with studying the life of Christ, and doing our own personal studies we will always learn something from the miracles of Jesus Christ. even John the baptizer at one doubted that Jesus was the messiah. we eventually see that Jesus sends disciples to report back to John in Lk 7:20-23
Luke 7:20–23 NASB95
20 When the men came to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, ‘Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?’ ” 21 At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He gave sight to many who were blind. 22 And He answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have the gospel preached to them. 23 “Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.”
we see that John gets a report about things that are supernatural. we can also tie in John 2:11
John 2:11 NASB95
11 This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.
we can also look at John 5:36
John 5:36 NASB95
36 “But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works that I do—testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.
From both of these verses we are accounts showing the works, the miracles, and teaching that Christ did throughout his life. today there some people who wish to see some sort of sign Lets turn in our Bibles to John 14:11
John 14:11 NASB95
11 “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
From this verse here Jesus was encouraging his disciples to believe in him, and in God. if nothing else believe in the things that Jesus did. As Christians we understand that not all that was done was written down. Lets turn in our Bibles to John 20:30-31
John 20:30–31 NASB95
30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
even today we may not have the miracles but we have record accounts about what Jesus did through his ministry. just because Miracles are gone does not mean God does not still work today. we also understand if we do not believe in the records of the miracles. Would we also not believe if we saw them with our own eyes? lets turn in our Bibles to Lk 16:31
Luke 16:31 NASB95
31 “But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”
It really comes back to our choice of believing in God, and Christ. these miracles were to show that Jesus was the legitimate son of God, along with the four Gospels.

Conclusion:

From this understanding the miracles of Jesus Christ still teach some important lessons to all Christians. (1. they demonstrate that Jesus is concerned with problems of others. (2 That Christ move with compassion for others, and still does when we have problems of our own. (3 The Miracles themselves prove that Jesus is truly is that son of God, we can be save from our sins, and someday go to be with him in eternity. Just from today we understand that God and Christ still care for mankind, the thing is we have to trust in them, and then allow our trust in them to guide us to doing the things that are pleasing to them. I may not know what you struggle with today, But God and Christ do. all i can do is ask are you prepare when Christ returns? that day can happen at any moment, it couple happen today, two weeks from today, couple of months, or several years from now. if you have questions, or are in need of prayers please ask. if you are looking to become part of God’s family through Baptism please come forward, as we stand and sing.
