Hey Yall, Im Ignacio, but people call me Nacho. I get to be the youth pastor for two churches, and one of them is Grace free lutheran, the church that started this school. I am so glad to be here, when I was your age, I came to know Jesus in a high school just like this one. So I am excited for what God has for us today. As we start with our message today, I am going to need a volunteer.
Whats your name? So it just fits that we pretend like we are in a forrest. There is a price hidden somewhere in this forrest, if I would ask you to try and look for it, would you be able to find it if I don’t give you a map? I still want you to look for it though so please go look for it. Okay now come back. Let make this better, what happens if I tell you to close your eyes and go look? It’s even worse right? Okay because Im nice I’m going to give you the map and you are going to go find it. Thank you, give it up. Life can feel like that sometimes—like a journey without a map. We want to live a life that matters, a life that has purpose, but we’re not sure where to go or how to get there. I believe our text for today will show us just that.
If you have your bibles we will be in Colossians 1
Colossians 1:9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Paul and Timothy are praying here and writing this letter to the church of Colossae This refers to the believers’ awareness of Christ’s desires for how they ought to conduct themselves.
Colossians 1:10-11
10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;

Please God as you live your life.

Vs. 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

We bear fruit when we are connected to the vine.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

We grow in knowledge when we study His word.

Do you spend time alone with God? Do you read his word?

vs. 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;
Ephesians 1:19–20 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

We are strengthened in power by His spirit

When Jesus ascended, He left us a helper, that when we repent and believe in him, we have the Holy Spirit in us
Colossian 1:12-14 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

You have been redeemed.

If there is anything that I want you to know today from this passage is that you are redeemed. Jesus wants a relationship with you. I made you think of a road trip earlier. Now think about driving a car without looking at the road. Thats even worse than not having a gps. I pray we can set our eyes on Jesus.
