Endless Gratitude

Main Idea: We should be endlessly grateful because God is endlessly faithful
One Sunday, a little boy thanked God in his prayer for the crayons in his box. His mother chuckled, saying, 'That's sweet, but aren't you forgetting something bigger?' The boy looked up and exclaimed, 'But mom, God made the crayons so I can draw about how great He is!' This reminds us that our gratitude can be for both the monumental moments and the small joys, showing God's faithfulness in all aspects of our lives!
1. We thank God for His faithful love (V. 1-18)
Steadfast love is a term used for the loyalty expected between family members and those who have made covenants with each other. It is most often used of God’s loyal love for His people. We thank God for His nature, which is infinitely powerful, faithful, loving, and gracious.
There’s a humorous story about a man who complained about the weather every day until one day he realized all his complaints couldn’t change it! Instead, he began to thank God for every sunny day and rainy day alike, understanding that both were needed for growth. Sometimes, we need to see the humor in our struggles and be thankful for God’s faithful provision in every weather pattern of life.
2. We thank God for His promises to us (V. 19-37)
Ethan thanks God primarily for His covenant with David, which meant blessing for all God’s people through their king. We thank God for fulfilling this covenant by providing us with the perfect King in Jesus Christ, who will rule forever.
3. We thank God even when we don’t see the evidence of His faithfulness (V. 38-52)
God punished His people for their sins and allowed the king to be defeated. Ethan longed to see God demonstrate His faithfulness to His promise, but recognized that God would eventually do so and continued to praise Him. We also should continue to thank God for faithful love
