**Sermon: "Our Eyes Are Upon You"**
*Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:12 (NKJV)*
*"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."*
---
### Introduction:
Have you ever faced a situation that felt overwhelming? Where the odds seemed stacked against you, and you didn’t know what to do? Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah found themselves in such a predicament in 2 Chronicles 20. This verse encapsulates their response: surrender, faith, and focus on God.
---
### 1. **Acknowledge the Problem (Facing Reality)**
Jehoshaphat doesn’t ignore the fact that a vast army is coming against them. He says, *“We have no power against this great multitude.”*
- **Lesson:** Faith doesn’t deny reality; it confronts it.
- In our lives, we often face "great multitudes"—financial burdens, health challenges, or relational conflicts. It's okay to admit, "I don't have the strength to handle this."
---
### 2. **Confess Your Limitations (Humility Before God)**
Jehoshaphat admits, *“Nor do we know what to do.”* This is a profound statement of humility and dependence.
- **Application:** True wisdom begins with acknowledging our need for God. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to *“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”*
- When we don’t know what to do, God knows. Admitting our weakness creates space for His strength (2 Corinthians 12:9).
---
### 3. **Fix Your Eyes on God (Faith and Surrender)**
Despite their fear and uncertainty, Jehoshaphat declares, *“But our eyes are upon You.”*
- **Faith in Action:** This is a deliberate choice to look beyond the problem and focus on God’s power, promises, and faithfulness.
- Hebrews 12:2 encourages us to *“fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”*
---
### 4. **The Power of Corporate Prayer and Worship**
In the surrounding verses, Jehoshaphat leads the nation in prayer and fasting. They lift their voices together to God, seeking His guidance.
- **Unity:** There is power when God’s people unite in prayer. Matthew 18:19–20 promises that when two or three gather in His name, He is there.
- **Worship as a Weapon:** Later in the chapter, the people sing praises, and God sets ambushes against their enemies. Worship shifts the atmosphere and reminds us of God’s sovereignty.
---
### 5. **God’s Faithfulness to Deliver**
The outcome? God answers their prayer and defeats their enemies without Judah lifting a sword (2 Chronicles 20:22–23).
- **Key Point:** When we trust God and keep our eyes on Him, He fights our battles. Exodus 14:14 says, *“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”*
---
### Conclusion:
In life, we will face moments when we are outnumbered and overwhelmed. In those times, let Jehoshaphat’s prayer be our own:
1. Acknowledge the problem.
2. Confess our limitations.
3. Fix our eyes on God.
As we surrender to Him, He will move in ways that we cannot imagine. Remember, the battle belongs to the Lord!
**Call to Action:**
What “great multitude” are you facing today? Bring it to God in prayer. Lay it at His feet and declare, *“Lord, my eyes are upon You.”* Then watch as He works on your behalf.
**Closing Prayer:**
*Lord, we acknowledge that we are powerless on our own. We don’t always know what to do, but we choose to fix our eyes on You. Fight our battles, strengthen our faith, and remind us of Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.*
