Welcome to week 3 of Jesus 101 - Christian Living
I’m Tyler Jones and my passion is helping people LIVE for God! Not simply liking God or starting with God, but living for Him day to day. Many people start.
Think of your Christian life as an engine and faith and love are the gas and oil. Faith and love fuel your Christian life and they both run out. Your Christian life breaks if you don't monitor and refill your faith and love. Your job every day is to refuel. As long as you are not running low on faith and love, you will succeed with God: answered prayer, fruit in your life, better relationships, blessings, mental strength.
Faith and love make you act like Christ.
law-following could never accomplish that.
Faith and love please God.
Faith and love make you effective for God's kingdom.
Declare and confess your status with God, your rights in His kingdom, and who you are because of Him!
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Before you can approach Him, you must believe what The Bible says Jesus did for you!
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Galatians 4:4–5 NKJV
4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Thank Him and praise Him.
Remember what He’s done! (make a list)
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
Romans 8:32 NKJV
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Find new things to believe and praise Him for.
Where? In the Bible.
Romans 10:17 NKJV
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Examine yourself
Do this at the end of the day.
To see if we're in the FAITH!
2 Corinthians 13:5 NKJV
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
If we see the signs of flesh, our faith is broken.
The fruits and the works are the check-engine light, not the engine.
You don't maintain a check engine light, you maintain an engine. The light simply tells you if there's a problem.
The First sign: seeing the works of the flesh!
Galatians 5:19-21
The next sign: missing fruits of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23
The next sign: no James 2 works.
If you see the signs, one of three things are wrong:
1) You believe you're dirty or unworthy.
2) You believe you have earned God's love or blessings.
3) You are allowing fear to have power over you.
How to fix?
Correct your faith, and the fruit follows.
To love Him more, simply meditate on what He’s done!
Remember what He’s already done, and what His Word promises!
Confess and believe that you are righteous because of Jesus, not your own efforts
Romans 3:21–23 NKJV
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Matthew 13:3-23 -> The Parable of the Sower
The cares of this life are a trap! The very moment you feel fear, or worry, you are not trusting God!
Matthew 6:25–27 NKJV
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Protect your inner circle!
Not just anyone gets to be close to you.
1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV
33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
The mark of someone being okay is what they make you believe about yourself. Do they make you believe Godly, Biblical things? Do they make you believe bad things about yourself? Do they pull your focus away from God?
Spread.
Seek first the kingdom and HIS righteousness (not your own) and God takes care of all the other things.
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Share with others what Christ is doing for you.
Be involved in church.
How can i help my church's mission?
How can i bless my pastor?
This isn't about your kingdom, it's about God's kingdom.
What does your body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and demeanor say to others? Joy? Peace? Or anger, worry, and judging?
Once you realize you are totally okay with God, you can finally focus on loving others, and lifting up those around you.
People who are stuck believing they have to earn it, are always focused on themselves.
No more, "i've gotta work on myself first before i can help others." NO! Christ already worked on you, and He did a perfect job
Every day: “How can I love someone today?”
Small Group Discussion:
PRACTICE!
everyone write down an example daily schedule.
prayer time
what time and how long?
Bible time.
what time and how long?
Get one seed per day.
Examine time.
What time and how long?
Go through the works of the flesh and the fruits of the spirit, as a check. How did you do today with those? See flesh? faith problem. No fruit? faith problem.
What about James 2 works? What did you do for the kingdom today, meaning, how did you love people today?
