This is a complete intervention into human history, where God had invaded the lives of human beings and nothing and I mean nothing, would ever be the same! When Christ came to earth as God made Flesh and Dwelt among us and was sacrificed on the cross for all humanity and then rose from the dead, this was more than just crossroads where a person has to choose which way to go next. History would be so impacted by the Advent of Christ that history was divided between before Christ and after Christ!

Bible Passage: Ephesians 2:4–5

Summary: Ephesians 2:4-5 emphasizes God's rich mercy and love, revealing how He intervenes in human life, bringing transformation and hope through Jesus Christ.
Application: This passage reassures Christians that no matter how deep their struggles or sins, God's love has the power to redeem and restore them. It encourages believers to rely on God's grace and to share that message of hope with others.
Teaching: The sermon can teach that God's love is not only a feeling but active intervention in our lives. It reveals the nature of God's mercy, showing that even in our spiritual deadness, we are made alive through Christ's love.
How this passage could point to Christ: In the broader narrative of Scripture, Christ is the ultimate expression of God's love and mercy, showing that His death and resurrection were the pivotal moments in God's intervention in human history, bringing life where there was once death.
Big Idea: God's merciful intervention through Christ transforms our spiritual state from death to life, empowering us to live fully in His grace.
Recommended Study: As you prepare for this sermon, it might be beneficial to explore the original Greek terms used in Ephesians 2:4-5 using Logos, particularly focusing on 'rich in mercy' and 'made us alive together with Christ.' Delve into commentaries that discuss the theological implications of being 'made alive' and how this theme is consistent throughout Paul's letters, especially in terms of grace and faith.

1. Mercy Moves Mountains

Ephesians 2:4
You could highlight the profound truth of God's rich mercy, which moves Him to intervene in our lives. This mercy is not passive; it is active and transformative. Stress that God's love reaches us even when we are spiritually dead, showcasing His unconditional love and initiative. Emphasize how this intervention changes our spiritual condition, setting the stage for new life.

2. Alive with Love

Ephesians 2:5
Perhaps focus on the power of being made alive with Christ, despite our previous state of spiritual deadness. This passage showcases the heart of the Gospel: life through Christ's love. Illustrate how this transformation is a gift from God, not reliant on our efforts or worthiness, but solely on God's grace, giving believers hope and purpose.
