THAT’S ENOUGH

November 24, 2024
Sermon Synopsis:
Today we delve into Leviticus 19:23-25 and uncover powerful lessons about patience, obedience, and blessings. God instructed His people that when they planted fruit trees, they were to wait before harvesting, teaching them that true growth takes time and trust. Just as sowing requires faith and growth demands perseverance, the harvest comes only when we follow His timing and guidance. Today, we’ll explore how aligning with God’s process in our lives brings forth the most fruitful and lasting blessings.
Leviticus 26:12-13 (NIV)
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. 13 I am the Lordyour God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.

Leviticus 18:5 (NIV)
5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.
We have been on a journey of looking through the book of Leviticus to understand how God would have us deal with resources.
Sorry seems to be the hardest word” Elton John, 1976
I’m sorry are the hardest words to say to someone else. But what are the hardest words to say to yourself? That’s enough.
That’s enough food, that’s enough jewelry, that’s enough to drink, that’s enough house or car, that’s enough clothes.
Proverbs 27:20 (NLT)
Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.
Leviticus 19:9-10 (NIV)
“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.

That’s enough
1 Timothy 6:17–19 (NIV)
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
How would you answer the question... Are you rich?
A national survey said you were rich if you made...
Rich = $150,000/yr.
Then they surveyed people that made between $30,000 - $40,000 per year and they said you were rich if you made...
Rich = $75,000
They then surveyed people that read Money Magazine... they said...
Rich = $5 million
Nobody is rich but everybody knows someone who is.
If you make $75,000+ in combined family income you are in the top 15% of the world.
It doesn’t matter where you are on that scale God has certain ways that He expects for you to utilize the resources you have.
Luke 12:15 (NLT)
Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”
1. God places “that’s enough” boundaries in everyone’s story.
1 John 2:16–17 (NIV)
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
COMFORT
Food, drink, relaxation, entertainment — all are acceptable until the excessive pursuit of comfort through them becomes the steering force in our lives.
CONTROL
It’s reflected in steps we take to insure our security or to increase our power. We work to earn a living. We take steps to protect our families. We study to increase our knowledge — all good. But when our need for control gets out of control, we end up hurting ourselves and others. For instance, when we start to see earning more and more money as the way to insure our security or adopt an attitude of superiority based on our education... money and learning have become idols.
SIGNIFICANCE
cars, fancy homes, degrees — with our relationships or activities such as raising children, volunteer work, even singing in the choir. All OK, until they become more important than our love for God.
Proverbs 27:20 (NLT)
Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.
Many of us don’t have a money problem; we have a mindset problem. We are focused on “more”. Instead of focused on what God has called us to do.
Luke 12:13-15 (NIV)
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” 15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
It is really hard to expose someone else’s greed without exposing your own.
Flintstones example.
That’s enough, is answered through discovering your purpose. Mother Theresa does not need wear fancy clothes... but the one called to work in an arena with billionaires may need to look at least sharp to reach the people in the place where they are called.
2. “That’s enough” varies according to purpose.
Romans 14:13 (NIV)
Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.
Luke 12:48 (NIV)
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
3. “That’s enough” is margin for others.
Ephesians 4:28 (NIV)
Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
2 Corinthians 9:10–11 (NLT)
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 11Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.
1 Timothy 6:6–10“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
