God heard my prayer (4-7)
God heard my prayer (4-7)
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
personal testimony of rescue.
interplay with the word fear we can either fear man or we can fear God.
(v4) I was delivered from my fears, because of another fear (v7).
There is a fear that can drive out other fears. (Fear of God).
Fear 1 - terror / Fear 2 - Reverence and respect.
Fear of the Lord is the what? Beginning of wisdom.
Exodus 3:6 (ESV)
6 And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
Moses - hid is face…but didn’t want to run away from the bush…he was drawn to it…out of respect and reverence and awe. (then he communicates with God).
This type of fear leads us to run to him instead of away from him we are drawn near to him.
God is absolutely holy and inflexibly just. That should make you feel immeasurably uncomfortable. But if we embrace God's love to us in Jesus Christ the overall climate of our relationship with God will not be marked by a prevailing pattern of tormenting fear and dread of God his perfect love has cast out that type of fear.
(v4) - David became radiant with reverence as He looked to God for deliverance.
(6) 3rd person… this poor man. (he was humble and not proud. “I was a poor man.”
God opposes the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.
(7) the angel of the Lord - preincarnate Christ - surrounding on all sides…kind of like the Shield in Psalm 3.
Warrior angel encamped (set in place) watching over you and looking out for you.
How have you experienced deliverance from your fears this year? Or what fear are you trusting God to deliver from you in the coming one?
