Saint Ambrosius or Ambrose of Milan was a Bishop in Milan. He believed that Joseph’s life foreshadows the life of Jesus. When Joseph forgives his brothers it is a visual of Christ’s forgiveness on the cross. Joseph ability to conceal his identity up to this point demonstrated Jesus life in how people was complex in knowing Jesus was the Christ.
Vs 1-4: Joseph emotions got to him, had everyone removed & told them who he was.
Joseph tells them twice who he is.
Vs 3 it says they were troubled. The Hebrew word used in the original text was “bahal” which means a state of terror.
Vs 5-8: Joseph then tries to comfort them.
Question: How do you treat your siblings when you think they did you wrong? Joseph does not focus on their actions. He focused on what God had done in his life.
