IN GOD WE TRUST
IN GOD WE TRUST
INTRODUCTION:
MANY PEOPLE DURING THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE FOUND THEMSELVES SPENDING THEIR TIME WONDERING WHO WAS GOING TO WIN THE ELECTION.
SOME EVEN STRUGGLED WITH THE UNCERTAINTY OF WHAT THE FUTURE WOULD HOLD FOR THEM.
BUT FOR GOD’S CHILDREN IT IS IN GOD WE TRUST. BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY IT’S GOD WHO IS IN CONTROL.
DAVID HAD FOUND HIMSELF CAPTURED BY THE PHILISTINES AND THE ONLY ONE HE COULD CRY OUT TO WAS GOD.
THE WAY HE SHOWED HIS TRUST BEFORE GOD.
DAVID BROUGHT HIS ENEMIES BEFORE GOD.
DAVID TRUST IN GOD OVER MAN.
DAVID PRAISED GOD’S WORD.
A. DAVID BROUGHT HIS ENEMIES BEFORE GOD.
Psalm 56:1–2 “Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; He fighting daily oppresseth me. Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: For they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.”
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN OPPRESS BEFORE, TO THE POINT THAT YOU HAD NO MORE FIGHT LEFT IN YOU TO FIGHT.
IT WAS ONLY WHEN YOU TURN TO GOD THROUGH PRAYER THAT YOU SEEN RELIEF IN SIGHT.
DAVID FOUND HIMSELF IN ENEMIES TERRITORY NEAR THE CITY OF GATH.
IN THAT CITY THEY BEGIN TO ASSAULT DAVID, TWISTING HIS WORDS, AND PLOTTING TO HARM HIM.
THERE CERTAIN SEASONS OF OUR LIVES WERE WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE NOT A MATCH FOR OUR CIRCUMSTANCES.
WHEN WE ARE OUT NUMBERED BY THE ENEMIES THAT WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED,
WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO BOW DOWN TO GOD AND BEGIN TO WORSHIP HIM AND NOT OUR PROBLEMS.
WHEN YOU TRUST GOD, EVEN YOUR ENEMIES WILL FLEE, BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR GOD.
FOR A BELIEVER GOD CHOOSES WHAT BATTLES WE ENGAGE IN.
GOD WILL USE YOUR ENEMIES TO BRING YOU CLOSER TO HIM.
THAT’S WHAT HAPPEN TO DAVID, THE MORE THE ENEMIES RAISED THERE HEADS THE MORE DAVID CRIED OUT TO THE LORD.
SOME OF US DON’T PRAY UNTIL WE ARE IN TROUBLE.
TO BE OPPRESS IS TO EXPERIENCE SOMEONE TRAMPLING OVER YOU.
EVERYONE OF US HAVE ALLOWED SOMEONE IN OUR LIVES TO TRAMPLE OVER US, UNTIL WE PUT THEM BEFORE GOD.
GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CHANGE A SITUATION FROM BAD TO GOOD.
Psalm 119:131–134 “I opened my mouth, and panted: For I longed for thy commandments. Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, As thou usest to do unto those that love thy name. Order my steps in thy word: And let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Deliver me from the oppression of man: So will I keep thy precepts.”
B. DAVID TRUST IN GOD.
Psalm 56:3 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
WHAT DAVID IS STATING THAT INSTEAD OF GIVING IN TO FEAR, HE RATHER PUT HIS TRUST IN GOD.
WHAT CHRISTIANS NEED TO REALIZE THAT WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO BRING HARM TO THEM IN ANY KIND OF WAY THEY STRENGTH IS IN GOD.
WHEN YOU TRUST IN GOD, THE FEAR THAT YOU MAY HAVE EXPERIENCE, IT WILL TURN INTO FAITH, BECAUSE GOD DID NOT GIVE YOU THE SPIRIT OF FEAR.
WHEN YOUR TRUST IS IN GOD YOU’RE NOT CONCERN WHAT MAN WILL DO UNTO YOU, BECAUSE THE MOST HE COULD DO IS HURT THE FLESH, BUT HE CAN NEVER HARM YOUR SPIRIT.
Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”
C. DAVID PRAISED GOD’S WORDI cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: This I know; for God is for me. In God will I praise his word: In the Lord will I praise his word.”
THE ONE THING THAT THE ENEMY HATE IS GOD’S WORD, BECAUSE HE CANNOT STAND THE TRUTH. THE ENEMY WILL ALWAYS TURN BACK FROM YOU, BECAUSE THE TRUTH WILL REVEAL HIS LIE.
WHAT THE ENEMY UNDERSTAND, WHEN A CHRISTIAN TURNS TO GOD’S WORD OR USE THE WORD AGAINST HIM, ITS NO LONGER THE ENEMY IS AT WAR WITH YOU, HE IS AT WAR WITH THE WORD.
THEN IT’S NO LONGER YOUR BATTLE, IT’S THE LORD.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh,
They stumbled and fell.
Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear:
Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after;
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;
He shall set me up upon a rock.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me:
Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice:
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,
Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
Hide not thy face far from me;
Put not thy servant away in anger:
Thou hast been my help; leave me not,
Neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O Lord,
And lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies:
For false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed
To see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord:
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:
Wait, I say, on the Lord.
