Sermon....
When I was preparing for today,
I was thinking of what a great testimony,
25 years of marriage is.
(thinking about all those who have been married for years)
Story of red tote… 2 dolls and cash..
I want to share briefly about God’s gift of marriage.
Marriage was never something that was created by an institution or by man,
but was rather created by God.
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,
“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”
Jesus reaffirms the gift of marriage...
Matthew 19:4–6 (ESV)
4 “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
God created marriage between one man and one women,
as a gift to have a beautiful flourishing life.
Knowing Nathan and Deedee,
it is evident that they both have different gifts.
And in your marriage,
I am sure you have seen how each one of those gifts complimenting one another.
In 25 years of marriage you have worked together,
and I am sure have both first hand witness God’s goodness and faithfulness.
That does not mean of course that it is always easy and smooth.
I am sure Nathan and Deedee,
you have had your share of ups and down,
victories and defeats,
but today you are here stronger,
because that journey has brought you closer together.
I will now hand it over to you both,
as you have both created your own renewal vows.
Nathan and Deedee Vows....
Mr. and Mrs Manville you may seal this ceremony with a kiss!
Let us now go and celebrate this very special day.
