Psalm 107 Wednesday Night

Notes
Transcript
Psalm 107:1–9 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Thank God for He is good!
Psalm 107:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
How has God been good to you?
But that isn’t what this is about, this is about God just being Good!
God is good
1 Peter 1:15–16 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
Only God is good.
Mark 10:18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.”
We know that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. People want to think that they are good and God is evil, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth that is a lie of the devil. Serial killers kill and we blaim God Rapists are terrible and we blame God. How could a good God allow that to happen? He doesn’t allow any sin to go without punishment.
Thank God for His eternal Mercy!
1 Chronicles 16:34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
Mercy is God withholding His wrath, which we deserve.
Ephesians 2:4–5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Mercy is more than just legal mercy and mercy form punishment mercy is found at the mercy seat and what is the mercy seat of Jesus Christ? It is the cross. and the blood that is shed for our sins
Mercy proves God’s goodness.
Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.
Believers should be thankful for redemption.
Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
Redemption - Being purchased back and rightly restored
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Redemption is the story of Hosea it is the story of Israel coming out of egypt. Saul is redemption

Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
This is the story of Israel in Egypt once again ultimately it is Jesus saved us from our biggest enemy sin.
Thank God that we are saved from the wilderness.
Psalm 107:3–4 And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in.
Thank God that heaven is our real home.
1 Peter 1:3–4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
This world is not our home it is passing away we are citizens of heaven we can be thankful for heaven.
Thank God for our food.
Psalm 107:5 Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.
God provided food and water for Israel in the wilderness. Water from the rock and mana every day. God does the same for us.
Nehemiah 9:20 You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, And did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, And gave them water for their thirst.
Thank God for deliverance.

Has God ever saved you from a pickle that was bigger than you could handle yourself. God delivers us from sin and He delivers us from our daily challenges
Deliverance at the throne.
Hebrews 4:15–16 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Thank God for leading us on the right path.

Thank God for leading you.
Psalm 16:10–11 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Thank God for the things He has done for you.
Psalm 107:8 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
We are special in Christ.
