7 I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. 8 My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. 9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. 10 For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together 11 and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.”
1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
13 O you who dwell in the gardens, with companions listening for your voice; let me hear it. 14 Make haste, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.
Introduction
We have come to the closing comments and in these we see such glorious expressions of wondrous truth.
Richard Brooks says - It is highly appropriate, given the whole nature and theme of the Song, that it should end with a word from each of its main characters: first the bridegroom addressing his bride (v.13), followed by the bride addressing her bridegroom (v.14). What they say to one another really amounts to the same thing in each case: come to me! Each desires more of the other, with deep and heartfelt longing.
The book is essentially a love story. Two young people meet, fall in love, marry and desire live happily together but not in the way that many see it. What is being spoken of here is a separation but the desire is that this separation cease.
As we have seen consistently there is the truth of the believers relationship with Jesus Christ and the redeemed church of God. We will consider the first two of these three aspects.

She wants him to be with her. She makes an urgent plea that will be the case. Come swiftly and powerfully.
(married to Mary Catlett for 40 years)
John Newton at his wife’s funeral said, ‘I was not supported by lively, sensible considerations, but by being enabled to realise to my mind, some great and leading truths of the Word of God. I saw, what indeed I knew before, but never till then so strongly and clearly perceived, that as a sinner, I had no right, and as a believer, I could have no reason, to complain. I considered her as a loan, which He who lent her to me had a right to resume whenever He pleased; and that as I had deserved to forfeit her every day, from the first, it became me, rather, to be thankful that she was spared to me so long …’

The church is Christ’s garden, the believer dwells there. Christ has promised to be with each of us.

20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
In a real sense Christ is not with us, but he is.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

63 I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.

16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.

7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.

13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

14 Make haste, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.
These ‘mountains of spices’ must be understood as referring to heaven. The reference is entirely appropriate, for in heaven the fragrant spices of Christ’s beauty, his merits, his intercessions and his praises abound. All heaven is perfumed with his presence and his glory.

6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; 7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; 8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad;

7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
Conclusion
Slide
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
