Caring for Your Liberation

Matthew 12:43–45 ESV

“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

Pray for the Lord to help us continue to uncover and understand the work of our liberation

3-4 weeks dealing with the work of preserving, maintaining and caring for our liberation

The house that is empty will be filled

you get to decide who and what fills it

The house that is not swept is in need of cleaning

this is the work clearing those things which the Lord wants out of our life

The house that is not orderly needs to be put in order

the work of aligning not to humanistic thoughts, whims and desires but aligning to the heart of the Father

Everyone of us needs liberation

“…the devil prowls like a lion looking for someone to devour…”

this is the work of Spiritual Warfare

Real threat to every part of our being

Unclean Spirits seek to return to what they believe they own.

bringing back 7 more

making the condition of the person worse than before

In the vein of Spiritual Warfare there is much work that is placed into our hands…

- Evidenced in the work of unbinding Lazarus and

- Made clear by the Great Commission

We have been given the tools to ensure our Liberation is complete in making Jesus King of all we are.

Who the Son has Set Free…

Ask if it says “have been set free…” past tense or “will be set free...” future

John 8:36 ESV

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

…Will be or are being set free

In this section of scripture

Jewish people who believed in Him

deny their condition of being captive

are being told there is a need to be set free even after believing

Working out the Salvation

Not you will work your way into salvation rather there is work inside of salvation or a progression that is part of our faith walk

Progression

Believe in Him

Abide in His word

Be a disciple not just a believer

know the truth

The truth will set you free… According to John 16 there is a Spirit of truth that we are to be filled with that He will guide us in all truth.

There are 5 stages in our life that have in impact on our Freedom each of these in the progression of our liberation must be dealt with as we sweep the house, and put it back in order

Conception

who (relatives 14th generation 2400 people) we scarcely know what our grandparents did

Birth

what was ministered in the womb

Upbringing

what were things like at home?

what were things like at your church?

what were things like with your friends?

Culture

The world around you and what they have made you believe?

Battles

Trauma

history

so on…

There are parts of our life that need to be dealt with… some of them we may not even be aware of.

The point is that we are being set free… the issue surfaces when we want to live in a deluded environment and pretend like everything is ok.

It is our right… it is our bread… as children of God to be set free

No More Pretending

Hardest truth to swallow at times is that we have been taught and conditioned to believe we are in control of our own destiny

we follow someone else’s regiment

we follow someone else’s rules

we do so because it is a tangible expression of how it makes us feel

Galatians 4:17 ESV

They make much of you, but for no good purpose. They want to shut you out, that you may make much of them.

Speaking of the elemental spirits of this world that held themselves out to be gods

They were responsible to help humanity learn about God not to be gods

they held humanity captive with rules laws regulations as though they could make us as gods

they tried to make you think that you were something to keep you away from what God had for you

Is this not what is happening at most churches today?

2. This is what we call toxic in any other relationship….

a. make you think you are actually something so long as you follow my rules, my way of doing things… most importantly so long as you make sure the LEADER approves

b. we have taught people to look to us (ministers) and are stealing the glory that belongs to the Lord

John 8:38 ESV

I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”

What we are being asked to do as Jesus

When we are still learning we will say “well so an so says…” but if you have been in the kingdom for years this statement sounds like

I do not have the time to… I do not want to… or fill in the excuse why

one way or another you’re not hearing the Lord, seeing the Lord and much less know the Lord

In the vein of sweeping, and ordering the house it can no longer be about what my parents said… what my pastor says… what the world tells me… or any of the 5 stages in our life… it must be this is what I have come to know of the Lord and how He has revealed Himself to me.

THE DANGER when you keep defending the excuses

John 8:39 ESV

They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,

The subsequent verses declare when one cannot handle the word of the Lord being spoken is because EVEN AFTER BELIEVING… these are of there father the devil.

Restoration is Found in Christ

Sweep the house

Order the house

Ensure that custody is given to the Lord King of Heaven and earth…

John 8:31–32 ESV

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

It is our right… it is our bread… as children of God to be set free
