He Who Began a Good Work in You

Philippians 1:3–6 NKJV

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Our Christian Life is to be Characterized by CONFIDENCE

Not SELF-Confidence but confidence in God

Confidence in “this very thing”

“This very thing” refers to God’s Work in Us

God’s Work in Us (Three-Fold)

God BEGAN His good work in us (Past)

Hebrews 12:1–2 NKJV

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

His “good work” in us began when we believed upon Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior

John 6:29 NKJV

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

God IS WORKING His good work in us (Present)

Philippians 2:12–13 NKJV

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

God WILL COMPLETE His good work in us (Future)

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

1 Corinthians 1:8 NKJV

who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:21 NKJV

make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
