Transcript
Advent is a time to recognize and reflect on the glory of Christ, preparing hearts to celebrate His coming by participating in the glory of God through Christ's life and mission on Earth.

Jesus came to ultimately glorify the Father by revealing His character

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you

“To lift Up or to Raise Up”
May this advent season be a time to lift your eyes to Jesus
δοξάζω- to glorify, exalt, praise; to be/become exalted
Glory can be both a noun or a vern.
The glory of God- is the description of his majesty or splendor.
Its the display of his goodness
To glorify (Verb) is to celebrate his goodness.
Its the response to his goodness in our lives.
Three main senses-
1. To verbal praise, to ascribe greatness to a higher being
2. deeds/entire life can “glorify” God when carried out with ooive in obedience to the will of God; when they are guided by his will and carried out in order to please him

You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Jesus is the World, he is the revelation of God’s goodness. Jesus is the exact picture of the Father. When Jesus is glorified God himself will be glorified.

3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Here is the thing.. In order to glorify the Son. God must bring on Him the curse of our Sin.
God will have to tale Jesus, cursed and rejected, and turn it around to be celebrated.
Jesus displays God’s goodness by humbling himself going to the cross and securing eternal life for humanity. This is Advent.

Jesus brings humanity into a relationship with the Father by granting eternal life.

Exalting Jesus in John Jesus Prays for the Father to Glorify Him (John 17:1–5)

We cannot adequately understand how glorious God is without the cross. There we see his holiness and condescension, his wrath and love, and his justice and mercy. All are perfectly displayed through the death of his Son

Eternal life isn’t just a prayer to gain salvation but a provision to enjoy the presence of Jesus.

Eternal life is seeing Jesus face to face and delighting in his presence for eternity.
Eternal life is living the life we werre created to live in fellowship with the Creator.
Jesus is displaying God’s goodness by reconciling rebellious creatures into connection with the father.
As we anticipate the return of Christ we have an opportunity to glorify God by displaying His goodness to those around us.
We spend our lives rejoicing and talking about the goodness of God in our lives and we are called to display that for others.
As beliers, we should be driven to help others find the Joy we have in Jesus!
To be able to say “Surely Goodness and Mercy follow me all the days of My life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever” is what advent is all about!
Thats why Jesus came and thats why He has commission us!
We are called to live on mission and share the gospel not to enlist converts but worshippers. We proclaim the gospel so that those who are blinded to the goodness of God may see it and worship Him.
Jesus glorified the Father by walking in Obedience to the Will of the Father

4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do

Jesus came to earth to Return to the Father

5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
