Numbers 14:42

Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.
A phrase study on “the Lord is”
Occurs 166 times in 157 verses.
Have you ever did something for the Lord when you had clear Bible verses and teaching then felt His presence as you accomplished His will?
For me it was driving up that hill in June 1995. I had been given Ephesians 4:11-16 in November of 1994.
Have you ever did something without clear Bible verses and teaching and without the Holy Spirit?
For me it was the first two years here pastoring this church.
Here are some EXAMPLES of the Lord not being among His people:

I. The Armies of the Lord.

Joshua 7:12 “Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.”

II. The Anointed of the Lord.

Judges 16:20 “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

III. The Apostles of the Lord.

John 21:1-4.
4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

Conclusion:

Has the Lord departed? No! Not since Pentecost.
The questions that relates us to this thought is:
Have you grieved the Lord with your sins?
Have you quenched the fellowship of the Holy Spirit with your sins?
The answer to these questions is simple:
Repent - Luke 13:3, 5.
Confess - 1 John 1:9.
Create a clean heart - Psalm 51:10.
And renew a right spirit within me - Romans 12:2.
