Unified in True Faith (20-22)
Unified in True Faith (20-22)
United in God
United in God
For unity to occur we must understand the truth. We must encounter the True God!
“It has been well said that truth without love is brutality, but love without truth is hypocrisy.” - W. Wiersbe
United in purpose.
United in purpose.
Christ knew that His disciples would be sent out and people would hear the word and respond in faith. The purpose of unity is to carry forth the Gospel of Jesus clearly to a lost world.
Our love for one another bears witness to the world of the reality of God.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
United in worship.
United in worship.
We have been made partakers of God’s glory so that we might worship and glorify Christ. This is done as we gather corporately and proclaim the praises of our common Savior.
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
Perfected in God’s Love (23, 26)
Perfected in God’s Love (23, 26)
Jesus prayed that we would be made perfect in Him, which is evidence of His love.
It is the love and grace of Christ that transforms the heart of the sinner and opens it to repent - Romans 2:4 “Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?”
Christ’s love perfects us!
God is at work in your life, and will complete the work that he has started in you!
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Glorified in the Blessed Hope (24-25)
Glorified in the Blessed Hope (24-25)
Christ’s desire is that we be WITH him. Jesus wants you with Him.
The greatest fulfillment in all of life is fellowship with Christ.
The transfiguration - we are transformed by time spent with Christ alone.
looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
