Jesus' birthplace was foretold, revealing God’s sovereignty over all events, even the movements of kings and empires.
Scripture:
Micah 5:2: “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.”
Matthew 2:1-6: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem...”
Sermon Focus:
Micah’s prophecy about Bethlehem points to the humble, yet significant birthplace of the Messiah.
Explore the role of the Roman census (Luke 2) in bringing Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, demonstrating how God orchestrated even secular events to fulfill His promise.
Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem fulfills God’s long-standing plan to establish the Messiah as the rightful ruler.
Application:
God is sovereign even in the seemingly small or insignificant details of our lives.
The fulfillment of prophecy reminds us that God’s promises are always kept, regardless of circumstances.
