Lord God Almighty,
What a privilege it is to have
You with us.
We are far more privileged
Than the Virgin Mary
Because we still have access
To the Resurrected Son of the Most High
And we have the Lord
In Spirit and power in us forever.
But we don't even pause to ponder
About how this came to be.
We are so anxious
With the temporary things of life
That we are oblivious to
The permanent reality of Jesus.
Forgive us Lord for our lack of wonder
And worship.
Father, we do not truly fear you.
We go on talking about grace,
And mock your majesty
By going on sinning.
Your kindness has not led us to repentance.
Forgive us Lord for our presuming
Upon your favour.
We proclaim that
Nothing is impossible with God,
And use this to subtly desire prosperity,
Healing and victory over sickness
And difficulties.
But we think that our sins
Are impossible for you to deal with.
We are dejected by how long
We have struggled with
Anger
Lust and
Pride
But we refuse to believe
That we are truly free,
Because we refuse
To accept that
We are your slaves —your servants.
Lord, the throne and kingdom
Are yours forever
But we, your servants
Like sitting on your throne
And ruling our momentary kingdom.
We forget how devilish this is.
We like talking about your sovereignty
But don't apply it
By surrendering our lives as your slaves.
Look at what we do with our "free will"!
We want money
We waste money
We expect integrity
We lie to people
We attend marriage conferences
We scroll till death do us apart
We perform ministry
We procrastinate family
We don't proclaim the gospel
We gossip
This is not freedom,
But irony.
Because we take pride in being spiritually healthy,
When clearly there is no trust
In your Holy Spirit's power
Or your Lordship.
We demand your favour
And diminish your Deity.
Oh Lord who is with us,
King of the universe,
Help us to see that our greatest freedom
Is found in being your servants.
And our greatest joy is found
In obeying your will.
We confess these our failures
And turn to you, our Lord
And Master Jesus the Son of the Most High,
In whose name we pray,
Amen.
Our Assurance of Pardon comes from
Romans 8:1–4 NASB 2020
Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
