Legacy Standard Bible Verse 20
Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the expanse of the heavens.”
Expanse:
rqiha sky, firmament רְקִיעַ‎: the beaten metal plate, or bow; firmament, the firm vault of heaven.
Proverbs 8:28–29 (LSB)
When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became strong,
When He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not pass over His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth;

And God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

Sea Monster:
sea monster, sea-dragon, serpent
Within this account of an orderly creation, many scholars have detected subtle notes of chaos and unrest. For instance, various interpreters understand the “watery deep” (תְהוֹם‎, thehom) as a direct or indirect reference to the Babylonian sea monster Tiāmat
Isaiah 51:9–10 LSB
Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Yahweh; Awake as in the days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not You who chopped Rahab in pieces, Who pierced the dragon? Was it not You who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep, Who made the depths of the sea a pathway For the redeemed to cross over?
Psalm 74:13–14 LSB
You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters. You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You gave him as food for the creatures of the desert.
28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that creeps on the earth.”
29 Then God said, “Behold, I have given to you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has the fruit of the tree yielding seed; it shall be food for you;
30 and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that creeps on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.

CHAPTER 2
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.
2 And on the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created in making it.
