Josué 5:12–15 (RVR60)

12 Y el maná cesó el día siguiente, desde que comenzaron a comer del fruto de la tierra; y los hijos de Israel nunca más tuvieron maná, sino que comieron de los frutos de la tierra de Canaán aquel año.

13 Estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó sus ojos y vio un varón que estaba delante de él, el cual tenía una espada desenvainada en su mano. Y Josué, yendo hacia él, le dijo: ¿Eres de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos?

14 El respondió: No; mas como Príncipe del ejército de Jehová he venido ahora. Entonces Josué, postrándose sobre su rostro en tierra, le adoró; y le dijo: ¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo

15 Y el Príncipe del ejército de Jehová respondió a Josué: Quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo. Y Josué así lo hizo.

12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.

13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?”

14 So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”

15 Then the Commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Propósito: Aprender cómo mantener una actitud victoriosa en el transcurso de nuestra vida cristiana.

Purpose: To learn how to maintain a victorious attitude throughout our Christian life.

Repaso | Review

-Continuando en el capítulo 5, que el maná dejó de caer para ellos, justo después de que comenzaron a comer del fruto de la tierra.

-Continuing in chapter 5, the manna stopped falling for them, right after they began to eat the fruit of the land.

-Esto les enseñó a ponder nuestra confianza en el Proveedor, y no en la provisión.

-This taught them to put our trust in the Provider, and not in the provision.

-También les enseñó a madurar y a tener responsabilidad como administradores de los bienes de Dios.

-It also taught them to mature and have responsibility as stewards of God's goods.

-Aprendimos que todo es de Dios, y que así como los que se benefician de la bendición de una familia deben aportar para el sustento de la casa, nosotros, en la familia de Dios también aportamos para el sustento de la casa de Dios con nuestros diezmos, ofrendas y primicias de todo lo que recibimos de Dios.

-We learned that everything is from God, and that just as those who benefit from the blessing of a family must contribute to the support of the house, we, in the family of God, also contribute to the support of the house of God with our tithes, offerings and first fruits of everything we receive from God.

Etapa de fructificación

-Otra aplicación que podemos darle a esta experiencia es en sentido espiritual.

-Another application that we can give to this experience is in a spiritual sense.

-Después de que nuestra vida ha sido unida a Cristo, y nuestra alma es alimentada con Su palabra, se espera de nosotros una vida llena de frutos producidos por el Espíritu Santo.

-After our life has been united to Christ, and our soul is fed with His word, a life full of fruits produced by the Holy Spirit is expected of us.

-Jesús dijo en Juan 6: “Yon soy el pan de vida, Yo soy el pan vivo que descendió del cielo; si alguno comiere de este pan, vivirá para siempre…” (Jn. 6.48, 51).

-Jesus said in John 6: “I am the bread of life, I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if anyone eats this bread, he will live forever…” (Jn. 6.48, 51).

5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

-Otro aspecto importante para nuestra victoria cristiana es permanecer en Cristo y dar mucho fruto espiritual, y que nuestro fruto permanezca.

-Another important aspect for our Christian victory is to remain in Christ and bear much spiritual fruit, and for our fruit to remain.

Romanos 6:20–22 (NVI)

20 Cuando ustedes eran esclavos del pecado, estaban libres del dominio de la justicia.

21 ¿Qué fruto cosechaban entonces? ¡Cosas que ahora los avergüenzan y que conducen a la muerte!

22 Pero ahora que han sido liberados del pecado y se han puesto al servicio de Dios, cosechan la santidad que conduce a la vida eterna.

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

La preparación para un victoria | Preparation for victory

-Es importante ver la secuencia de sucesos como preparación de lo que iban a experimentar conquistando a Jericó: La circuncisión, la celebración de la pascua y el cambio de provisión.

-It is important to see the sequence of events as preparation for what they were going to experience when conquering Jericho: circumcision, the celebration of the Passover, and the change of provision.

-El capítulo 5 termina con el relato del encuentro que tuvo Josué con un “varón.

-Chapter 5 ends with the account of Joshua's encounter with a "man."

Lo que no debemos olvidar | What we must not forget

-Este varón se identifica como “Príncipe del ejército de Jehová”. Este encuentro concientiza a Josué de dos cosas:

-This man identifies himself as "Prince of the army of Jehovah." This encounter makes Joshua aware of two things:

Quién era el que estaba al mando supremo

Who was in supreme command

De quién dependía la victoria

On whom the victory depended

-Lo primero que tenemos que tener en cuenta respecto a nuestra experiencia cristiana no son los milagros (como el cruce del Jordán o el maná), tampoco son las experiencias religiosas (como la circuncisión o la pascua).

-The first thing we have to keep in mind regarding our Christian experience is not the miracles (like the crossing of the Jordan or the manna), nor are they the religious experiences (like circumcision or the Passover).

-Lo primero que tenemos que tener claro y definido es “quién es el Señor de nuestra vida”.

-The first thing we have to be clear and defined is "who is the Lord of our life."

Romanos 14:7–9 (NVI)

7 Porque ninguno de nosotros vive para sí mismo, ni tampoco muere para sí.

8 Si vivimos, para el Señor vivimos; y si morimos, para el Señor morimos. Así pues, sea que vivamos o que muramos, del Señor somos.

7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.

Quita el calzado de tus pies | Take off your shoes

-Este “príncipe” le dijo a Josué lo mismo que se le dijo a Moisés: “quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo”.

-This “prince” told Joshua the same thing that was said to Moses: “Take off your shoes, for the place where you stand is holy.”

-Estar descalzo en la Biblia representa la rendición total de un hombre. Antes de pisar un lugar sagrado, la persona se quitaba el zapato.

-Being barefoot in the Bible represents a man’s total surrender. Before stepping into a sacred place, a person would take off his shoe.

-Otro aspecto importante para la victoria cristiana es nuestra separación de todo tipo de contaminación de nuestra conciencia.

-Another important aspect of Christian victory is our separation from all kinds of contamination of our conscience.

Hebreos 10:22 (NTV)

22 entremos directamente a la presencia de Dios con corazón sincero y con plena confianza en él. Pues nuestra conciencia culpable ha sido rociada con la sangre de Cristo a fin de purificarnos, y nuestro cuerpo ha sido lavado con agua pura.

Hebrews 10:22 (NLT)

22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

-“Quitar el calzado” es despojarse del pasado para entrar a un presente santificado por la voluntad de Dios, gracias a “la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo hecha [en la cruz ] una vez para siempre”, (He. 10.10).

-“Taking off your shoes” is stripping off the past to enter a present sanctified by the will of God, thanks to “the offering of the body of Jesus Christ made [on the cross] once for all,” (Heb. 10:10).

-Gracias a Jesucristo podemos estar delante de Dios.

-Thanks to Jesus Christ we can stand before God.
