Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” And they answered, “John the Baptist. But others say, Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.” And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

TO CALVARY! - Is this what Jesus wants us to realize. The Cross is about Death.
Not to overthrow Rome! A Coup! An Earthly Kingdom.
saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
This is not the self-denial because You have to first deny yourself, then take up your cross.
This is not the self-denial because You have to first deny yourself, then take up your cross.
This is not the Love b/c Love brings me to the self-denial part.
This is not the Love b/c Love brings me to the self-denial part.
We will never deny ourselves if we first don’t fall in love with someone else
We don’t deny ourselves for God until we first fall in love with Him
It is not the sacrifice b/c I am following Him and He is the sacrifice
It is not the sacrifice b/c I am following Him and He is the sacrifice
My sacrifice is not going to save anyone.
Ask yourself this What do I have to sacrifice when all that I have belongs to God? Am a just a steward. God gave it all to me. THAT’S WHY I SHOULD BE THANKFUL.
To give back may hurt because we want to hold on to it.
It is not Forgiveness because my Cross does not have that power.
It is not Forgiveness because my Cross does not have that power.
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
Jesus is saying
A. I must die (physical)
B. You must die (to self)
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

I AM NO LONGER ME
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
This part of me is no longer in charge. THE FORMER LIFE IS PUT TO DEATH. That former life outside of Christ is not longer me.
