Aaron and Melchizedek
Aaron and Melchizedek
The writer of Hebrews had brought up and was headed in the direction of the foundational difference between the Priestly Order of Arron (representing here the Jewish High Priests) and that of the Order of Melchizedek ( Who was a King Priest)
But he stops himself and starts stomping on toes.
11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
When our wives say one thing, but mean another:
I don’t care where we eat.
It’s fine / I’m fine.
Does this outfit make me look fat?
Would you be embarrassed to be seen with me in this?
Do whatever you want.
The only way to know what they mean is to:
Listen: Words, Tone, Body Language.
Spend time together.
Martye has called me before and I have answered the phone and said, “Sure, I can do that.”
Relationship with Christ:
That same intuitive knowledge can be with Christ.
But you have to Listen:
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
Training Wheels
Why is this a problem?
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
Infants can’t (won’t) take care of themselves.
As an infant, you can never grow beyond the basic fundamentals of life.

Walking
Solid food

Feed themselves
Preparing their own food

Working
Taking care of the next generation.
14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
Practice: Hexis : Habit, constant use.
trained: gymnazo

What is the Milk?
What is the Milk?
1 Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
2 of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.
3 And this we will do, if God permits.
Repentance/Faith
21 solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Baptism and Laying of Hands
1 Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me;
5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Resurrection and Eternal Judgment.
