Introduction

I. The truth of the incarnation v.15a

This is a faithful saying-

It is true.

2 Peter 1:16 “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”

Worthy of all acceptance-

Must be received and believed

Christ Jesus came into the world-

From perfect heaven to sin cursed earth.

Second person of the Trinity took to himself a human nature

Matthew 1:23 ““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.””

John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Let earth and heaven combine, angels and men agree, to praise in songs divine the incarnate Deity, our God contracted to a span, incomprehensibly made man.

Application

II. The reason for the incarnation v.15b

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners

To save sinners

From what?

How?

SINNERS

“Come, ye weary, heavy-laden,

Bruised and mangled by the fall;

If you tarry till you’re better,

You will never come at all;

Not the righteous, not the righteous,

Sinners Jesus came to call.

Application

III. The response to the incarnation v.15c

This really happened- Faithful and trustworthy.

I need Jesus- I am chief.
