Lie: Following Jesus is going to steal my joy in life.
Truth: Jesus gives you fullness of Joy and abundant life!
Jesus doesn’t only save you from something, He saves you for something.
Jesus Protects us from Danger
Jesus Protects us from Hunger
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Lie: Follow your heart.
Truth: Our hearts actively deceive us, Jesus desires to lead us.
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Release your anxious thoughts to God.
I refill my mind with what is true.
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Lie 3: I need to clean myself up to come to God.
Truth: Jesus wants you to come to Him so that He can clean you up!
Christianity is not a fixer-upper relationship. It is a full demolition
Matthew 11:28-30.
Who is this invitation for?
Who is the invitation from?
How do we accept the invitation?
Hebrews 4:15-16
My Thoughts:
My Thoughts:
Friday Night: Forgiveness
“I’ve got to clean myself up before I come back to God.”
Clearly explain the gospel.
For believers/additional lies:
I could never forgive that person.
I don’t think God really likes me.
Saturday morning: Following/Who are you following?
“God just wants me to be happy.”
If you know Jesus now, you are closer to Him because He lives inside you more than the disciples ever were!
For believers/additional lies:
Follow your heart.
Following Jesus will steal my joy.
Believe in yourself.
That’s just the pastor’s job.
Saturday Night:
“God won’t give me more than I can handle.”
